We are maybe planning a day visit for the gathering. James, not meaning to "play thru" a post but just wondering....have you started your new build yet? October (LCG) is just around the corner, better hurry.

Two weeks and counting!

Some reminders for last year's bunch, and new information for noobs...

1. There are two ways onto Bolivar Peninsula, the bridge on the East end, and the ferry from Galveston. If you take the ferry, you are subject to random inspections by Homeland Security, and they don't allow propane bottles and coleman fuel cans. The searches aren't overly intrusive, and if you get searched, you get to move to the front of the line. But, they will take away any loose cans of fuel.

2. You need a beach parking pass to park and camp on the beach. They are ten bucks for the year, and you get them at the "Big Store," which is shown on the map in the first post in this thread.

The Big Store also has pretty much anything you could possibly need ... plus some awesome breakfast burritos for after a night of "enthusiastic celebration."

As of today, there is no burn ban for Galveston County, so we should be allowed a campfire on the beach. Bring wood, if you can. Campfires are allowed, bonfires are not. Sorry Danny.

NO GLASS BOTTLES are allowed on the beach. Bring canned beverages and/or plastic cups.

I talked to Eddie a couple of days ago, and we made an executive decision on Gumbo for Saturday night. Everything wee need to make it is available at the Big Store, so we can gather up some money and go shopping down there, or come up with a list, and have people bring stuff. What do you prefer?

Two questions:

Do you need to empty Coleman stove and/or lantern fuel if taking the ferry?

Can you purchase fuel and propane canisters at the "Big Store" without giving up your first born?

Coming from San Antonio- it looks like one would be going the long way to go over the bridge.

You do not have to empty your stoves or lanterns.

They have everything at the Big Store, and the prices are reasonable. It is a combination grocery store, craft store, Radio Shack and Ace Hardware store, in one "big store." Very interesting place.
