Mike and Em, That was probably me flyin down US71. I had get homeitis. US 71 is in great condition and it's easy to be doing 75 before you know it. My mileage sucked but I was making great time.

 Bill I caught myself doing 80 a few minutes ago.

Ok guys I went to Nevada and Carthage and a small campground just South of I-44 and took pictures.

http://s165.photobucket.com/albums/u78/ ... mpgrounds/

I hope it is public

Now of the three---Nevada has the largest clubhouse and kitchen and pool table. The best bathrooms---I am talking really clean and nice. They also have a small miniature golf course and stuff to do near by.

The other two smell like old bathrooms. They are both clean butt....

Ballards actually has closer sites but is the warmest site. Has no club house if we get cold or rain. Has fire rings and is $15.00 a night with electric and water.

The club house at Big Red barn is, well there are two. The one after 5pm is about 10 x20 and has a pool table and gas fire. They do not allow open fires and bring your own grill if you are grilling. If you have a covered fire pit you can bring it but they don't want fire or charcoal on their grass or gravel.

Sooooooooo I think of the three Nevada has the best to offer. Anyone else with a favorite that is open please chime in as these three are going to be almost bare of trees by Dec. None of them will need reservations but Nevada would like a call so they can be ready.

OK, I read all the post and still do not know where or when. So...

Lois and I would love to go someplace this Christmas season, since santa can not make it this year.

 Sorry Kai, My vote is Nevada unless someone has a better place that is actually open with hot showers. Would love to see you and Lois again.

If you can get some people on board for Silver Dollar City I will go there too. We don't really need reservations. Just no one chimed in on that one.

So far we have grills, fire pit, side by side parking, any other questions?

The only fire pit is in the tent area but they say we can use it if we like. Might be really cold though. :snowstorm: :snow  And poison ivy going up a near by tree so I didn't hang out there a lot.

We can't commit quite yet but Nevada sounds good to me. Thanks for taking a look around and scouting out the area.

Gary and I definitely vote for Nevada and the 30th of November/1st of December. If this weather keeps up (almost the 1st of November and going to be in the 70's today, we might be camping in shorts!

Kia/Lois .... sure hope you can make it. :worship: Anyone interested can come on up to KC and camp in the Rayvillian's backyard ... visit the Plaza Lights .... :beautiful:

Motion seconded and third, I say we go for it. If we don't like it we just won't go back.   Now this is right off the highway so very hard to miss. For those not familiar with the area Ft Scott also has the National Historic Cemetery #1.

Now next year somewhere warm  I agree Trudy we could very well have 70's.

Would you find out if tent camping is allowed - and how close to the "rv" sites? Sounds like a good spot and it's always nice to go where you are wanted.

My husband (Scott) is a flyfishing guide, and when you are self-employed you are on "customer time" :) so we can't come if he gets a booking that weekend, but otherwise, we will try to be there. We are in the early stages of planning our tear and would love to get to meet several of you and gather advice. We already got to see Victor Star's beautiful teardrop and it just made me want one all the more! So if we come we will either be tenting or just throw a mattress in the back of the pickup shell. Hmm... weather the last of November? Pack your shorts AND your flannel long-johns!

Sharon they do have a tent area but it is small and I saw poison ivy on a couple of trees. They might allow a tent on the site with electric and near the teardrops. You can call them

Thanks! When it gets closer to the weekend so I know our plans, I'll give them a call and see. We could skip the tent and pretend the pickup shell qualifies as a "camper" although it is really just a topper. Thanks for the warning - I'm an old Girl Scout and a pretty experienced camper, and I know better than to lean against trees with vines growing up them, even with no leaves!

I hope to see you there!

Sounds like we've pretty much decided on Nevada but Fred called last night and suggested this place.

He's been there before and said that it is real nice and close to Branson but we'll have to get reservations in because they are busy for the Christmas season being as close to Branson as they are.

Gary, you might give them a call and see if they are busy. A lot of places don't need reservations the first couple of weeks into the Christmas season. We are up for either because we are so close to both. Like I said the Nevada site is small and and I guess I will wait to see what everyone else wants. How about you do a poll.

What we probably need is to stay away from a North wind blowing off the water though. Wonder what kind of trees they have?

Yep! Me too. I think the lake will be very cold and now that I have said that it will be 80*. At least we can duck in the club house if the weather is bad at Nevada.
