Scott, we are thinking the same way. Gas won't get any cheaper so we might as well go for it. Neither of us has been to California so this will be the trip of all trips...for a while anyways.
I've already started putting a little $ aside for the trip. As soon as we get our property taxes paid in full I'll start putting more aside.

Miriam it is way to costly to fly into Eureka. Go to Sacramento and drive up. It cost more to fly from Eureka to San Francisco than San Francisco to you. Remember we live behind a Redwood Curtain!!!! If you get here you can use my 10x12 tent

Denice thank you. We looked again at it and right now we cannot do the drive from Sacramento and then get on a plane and then a drive home.

My biggest reason for building so big was to make longer trips comfortable for Mike. Truth is the trip to Minden and back was torture and he really didn't get to enjoy it.

Someday we will get it all worked out and off we go.

I've already sent the registration form & a check to Dean. We still plan to do the Alaska Highway thing beginning early June but that may fall thru if fuel price continues to go up. If we're still at home by mid-July we'd enjoy traveling with others going that way. More'n likely we'll already be somewhere 'out west' by then. I have a brother in Klamath Falls, OR & Lenora has a sister in Hoopa, CA. Neither is all that far from the IRG & we'll definitely be seeing them either before or after so our travel plans are indefinite at present. We'll just have to see what happens 'tween now'n then

Mandy, We are leaving on Friday the 18th. We haven't decided which way we are going yet. We will take the NM, AZ route one way and Nevada, utah and CO the other way. Can't wait. I'm saving all change and one dollar bills I come home with to start saving towards gas.
Might need to start saving my 10's and 20's too.

Hey, wait until the spring and just throw a garage sale chips and soda. You'd be surprise the kind of money that you can make! One summer, I had a garage sale and on a whim sold bottled water and sodas. I made a large profit on the water and soda because everyone who stepped in my yard bought something to drink ('cause it was hot) even if they didn't buy any of the other items.

I'm still thinkin' about how I might be able to go. Since I don't yet know where I'll be this summer, it's hard to plan. ...but that shouldn't stop me from helping you all plan  .

I found this while trying to figure out how much gas I could go through on the trip to the IRG. I way over projected my mileage and gas prices. http://www.roadtripamerica.com/roadtripamerica_cfmfiles/calculator.cfm

Enjoy

Todah..We don't have garage sales. We live too far out and too far off the road.
Makes me think though. I have started setting up my craft booth at a Trade Days fairly close to home. Might have to drag garage sale stuff up there. Hummmmmmmmmmmm.......Maybe I need to start cleaning out my attic...

Thanks for the idea.....

Mandy, I'll have to check out that web site in a little while. I can't wait for Dean to update the roster for IRG 2.0. I keep impatiently waiting for our names to show up.

Linda

YEA !!!!!!! We are #27 on the IRG 2.0 Roster.....................

Linda-
I gotta tell you, the best garage sale I ever had.....here at my house. And we live over 7 miles from town by dirt roads. I've had several in town, at different family and friends homes, but I made lots more money here. With pretty much the same kind of junk. I guess people think 'I drove this far, I better buy something'.

Hey Karol. We are 12 miles out which is ok. folks have garage sales near here. But, our house is off the road and we have several shops full of tools etc that aren't locked. We don't like anyone and everyone coming up here if u know what I mean. Besides we have 4 loose dogs that don't like strangers. Plus there is so much around our yard and shop that people would think all the junk and stuff is for sale too. LOL
Can't have at the highway because there isn't any room as we have trees all the way to ditch.
I'm thinking about my sisters house.

My mom gave us some baby sago palms when we went home once. They were sitting on the driveway becaus eI hadn't figured out where to put them. We had a garage sale one time and people kept asking if they were for sale. We ended up selling them all! People even bought the ones that I thought were dead. They were free to begin with, they were cut from a plant in front of my parents house.

We bought one here, and my mom gave us another fully grown one. It worked out because the one she gave us is a female plant and the one we already had is a male. I am getting tons of babies from both plants. I'll pot them for a future garage sale.

Back in the 90's I used to supplement my income with e-bay. But now it has changed so much that you could hardly turn a profit on anything anymore. I like to go to the flea market, I used to make anywhere from $60-$75 on one Saturday. Only problem now is that they raised their rate from $12 a space to $25. :x Dang venders ruined it for everyone.
