Believe me we would love to come - so close and so many friends but alas it's work that prevents us. I have to be in Houston for the enire week/end only to return on Sunday. it's one of those events that you go to in order to retain you creditials - Bummer

Julie, For the pot luck Ker and I'll bring some sort of side dish, perhaps coleslaw and something else. We are all breaking bread together on Sat night right?

Dave & Cindy, what's showing at the Bluebonnet Theater?

Ker and I are really looking forward to this gathering, could use the break from the normal daily grind.

I have a couple of marinated pork tenderloins in th' freezer. They cook up nice on my small 'kettle' grill. I'll fix those if it's OK

Sure !!! Harvey, you bring the meat, Earl & Kerry a side dish...
I'll likely still do drumsticks and deviled eggs.

Cindy... if Dave doesn't make it , could we still do movie night???
It will certainly be too hot for any campfires.... but not for the beverages that go with it... haha

I'm getting the Jewel box ready , not a total makeover revealing type thing... it's not THAT ready but you'll see something different.

I'm open for suggestions, I haven't had time to even think about it.

I sure hope you make it Dave and get to see my shiny teardrop! Now I won't mind being in the sun!
I hope you don't have to work and miss out .

A comedy is always good... it's so hot, I can't think of any decent / funny right now.
I bought "Zodiac" the other day, but it's got some gorey parts.

Do I need an OK fishing license for Texoma?

Haven't fished since Cedar Hill last year, so I don't have a current TX license.

Looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday.

SO SORRY >... y'all .... that I haven't posted better directions yet

I will DEFINITELY call today and/or tomorrow and make sure what the road is coming south out of Kingston... it may even have a sign for Caney Creek cuz it's only 6 miles south of there.

Reserve america says it's Dunahoo road, my map shows it's Muncrief road.

I tried to call the park last weekend, it rang and rang and I got busy at work this week and forgot to call.... a bit of frustration with the Jewel Box too ...

Later... and no big deal about the potluck.... we always have enough food. I just wanted to make sure we don't all bring the same thing!

But definitely bring cold beverages and shorts !

ITS HOT OUTSIDE!!!

Postby Cindy » Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:52 am

I'm hoping we can swim. Being in the water is all that sounds good right now. If not that, then maybe a water sprinkler. We are bringing the airconditioner for the BB2 to cool the van for Tyler. We may all crowd in the van all day?

*********** DIRECTIONS *********** DO NOT USE GPS **********

I know it will be hot, but actually it's supposed to cool down a bit this weekend !!!

I called the park for directions and Nancy ( at 580 564 2632) said
DO NOT USE GPS , it will lead you on Muncreif Road and you cannot get thru --- bridge is OUT !

You will go to Kingston, OK on highway 70 and there is only one stop light in town .

WEST of the stop light there are railroad tracks and the 2nd street west of the tracks is Donahoo Road . Turns south. This is a paved road... go about 3 or 4 miles and there will be a road to the left (east) called Lassiter and a not too big sign for Caney Creek Campground... follow that just about a mile , there will be a sharp curve and then the entrance gate.

Gate closes at 10 pm but if anyone is coming late , just call 580 564 2632 and ask Margie to wait or leave the gate open.
If you KNOW you will be there but that late, let me know .

I CAN'T GO!!!!!

Postby Cindy » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:40 pm

I BROKE MY FOOT. I can't drive right now. Dave is having to work on Saturday. :x I won't even be able to walk at all. Just getting around the house is going to be hard for a few weeks. I can't imagine walking to the bathrooms at the park or sitting in the heat with my foot wrapped tight. If I were to fall again. . . . .
Anyway, you guys have a great time and stay as cool as you can. I will sit here and pop pain pills. :crying1:

OWWWWW. . . , that's terrible Cindy :O . Sure hope it gets better soon. We'll miss y'all at Caney Creek.

I finally got off my behind & finished installation of the Pet Cool A/C for our TD Sunday. It works great & we're lookin' forward to sleepin' cool at Lake Texoma this weekend. Checked the Kingston weather forecast & it looks as if the heat may be moderating somewhat for Friday & Saturday, perhaps effects from tropical storm Edouard??

We're headin' out Thursday morning & will overnight somewhere in western Arkansas or eastern Oklahoma that night, then mosey on to Caney Creek Friday AM. Lookin' forward to seein' all you folks again, especially since we haven't made it to any gatherings this year.
