Love Tyler SP. just an FYI....unless u want to hide it, they don't allow firewood brought in. Some beetle problem? I love red oak loop best, but there is no electric on those sites. Wish we could come! We will be camping elsewhere!

The gas station across the road sells it for a pretty penny. U can use theirs bc it's from the same forest. They also sell it for "donation" on the honor system on the loop where the big rigs park w full hook ups. I do that, and pay what I can. They also don't allow gathering of firewood....so you are kinda stuck. It's still a fantastic park!

I will call up there today to get the skinny on the details to see how can they tell if wood was bought from the gas station across the street or 20 miles away, and also to see if their wood on the big RV loop is well stocked! I am camping there this weekend for a test run of my Kenskill and to check out the park. There were only two sites left in the entire park so I will be camping in the big rig section this time... :o

I just called and spoke with the park staff onsite and they were not aware of any firewood restrictions so maybe that was something that they used to do and lifted it, either way that is good news!!!

I was wondering about the firewood restriction - I've never heard about that anywhere in Texas. I know that Pine Beetles are bad in the area where I am about 30 miles away.

I have an absolute ton of wood I can bring, I'll probably limit it to whatever one truckload amounts to.

I would say that were are fending for ourselves. I don't see many confirmations, just plans but that doesn't mean they aren't reserved, just not posted so I am going by the 100% club LOL

Sorry for the lack of a potluck - I've been extremely busy. Hadn't even really thought of it until the wife asked me about it today.

We're not even sure what her work schedule is doing at this point, supposed to be off Saturday, but maybe not

I just got back from Tyler state park, the loop is cool looking and there are some really scenic views of some deep valleys right off the edge of many of the campsites. The park is cleaning up some one of tree problem, maybe that beetle issue me mentioned earlier as there were a lot of downed trees and burned out spots where they were killing off stuff.

Yeah it was a last minute thing, There were only two sites left the other day so I just went for it for a one nighter, it just rained off and on and only stormed after I was already in bed, so it was a good night. It turned cold in the morning so I just headed home around noon.

BG,
Don't think we can make this trip. We camped this weekend in the rain and really got to us. What loop are you in?
