OK Boys and Girls,

Now that we have decided on Nevada. What about food?

Anybody got any ideas for supper on Friday night and Saturday night.

Since it will be cold.....what about chili on one of those nights. It will help heat the TD's all night.

Anybody with any ideas, now's the time to post them.

Since I haven't been to a TD gathering before, can someone fill me in on the usual agenda/etiquette - or is anything "usual" with this group?

Do folks generally stick around the campsite all weekend, or is Saturday daytime everyman for himself (sightseeing, napping, or whatever)?

Isn't a Friday night group meal a little difficult to time, with everyone traveling different distances? Or do you just put out the food and see who shows up? If we are able to come, we probably will leave after work and grab dinner along the way, but I'm not sure how close/far the rest of you are.

What about a Friday night before-bedtime dessert and snack party, and a group meal Saturday night? Chili sounds great! Group multi-can chili even sounds great!

Sharon,

You are right. Usually Saturday night would be the group meal, but I didn't know if there would be enough people getting there from noonish Friday to justify one then. Usually The Saturday meal is sort of potluck, with everyone bringing some kind of dish, but since I don't think this is going to be a huge gathering, I didn't know if everyone would want to go together and make a couple of pots of chili, and then those not making chili, could bring bread, salads or desserts,....or another main or side dish. Just my thoughts, which is why I threw it open for suggestions.

FOOD !!

Postby RAYVILLIAN » Sat Nov 03, 2007 6:41 pm

Gary and I will plan on doing our DO breakfast (mountain man casserole and home made cinnamon rolls) for Saturday morning. Of course, everyone is invited ... just bring your drink of choice and paperplates/plasticware.

I will make dessert for Saturday night ... Dutch Oven of course.

We won't get there until late Friday night (gotta work ya know). :(

Saturday night chili supper sounds good. We may need something nice and hot to keep warm.

SharonB, to answer your question about Saturday during the day, yes. New builders typically spend a lot of time looking at trailers, taking pictures and talking. Teardroppers are always happy to show you their trailers. Sylvia and I like to take off and see the local sights (if there are any) but try and be back by early afternoon to visit and cook. Some of the bigger gatherings sometimes have events planned during the day like dutch oven cooking work shops or technical demonstrations.

Miriam.... will you check and see if I bring a fire ring / fire pit, will they let us have a campfire? Mine is about 4 ft square, up off the ground and made of heavy steel or whatever... it does have a curved cover if needed.
I could bring it with me if someone else will bring wood.
