If this weather holds out, I will need an AC unit in the TD, too.

HELP!!!!

CD, here's a suggestion, just have a Birthday Party and pass out tools as party favors. Play productive games like, "Hang the Doors on the Teardrop" OR "Last One to Raise the Hatch is a Rotten Egg!". You've gotta be creative to get-her campable.

Let me know if I can help. You know I'm not far down the road from you :) .

Just two weeks away ... I can't believe it.

Pretty sure I'll drive part way on Thursday and then get to the Lazy campground midday Friday . Coming home on Sunday .

Hopefully my arm will be healing by then and won't have any soreness and be able to go tubin... and hopefully the water will rise! !

QUESTION>>>>>>>

for the tubing... what do y'all use for carrying stuff like sunscreen or chapstick (not keys or valuables) Something that will be waterproof ?

And I'm not a GREAT swimmer, and have floated down the San Marcos(?) before and no problem... but if the river level is kind of low and slow, do I have to think of wearing a life jacket? (Don't make fun of me!)

Or what other kind of thing or stuff , drinks , water etc will you carry with you on the float? About how long do you think we'll be out on the water floating?

I"m just thinking about getting packed! Gonna go get some water shoes today

most of the time all you have to do is stand up-some spots a deep but you will be ok. when the river is low it's nice to have a tube with a bottom. I like a bottom anyway-just easier to readjust during long floats.

Julie,
When my wife and I were there a few weeks ago the Guadalupe river was so slow that a normal 3 hour trip took almost 6. So what we ended up doing was finding a nice spot in the river with a lawn chair and a floating ice chest of beer and drinks and people watch.BUt when we go to the Comal river you wont have to walk at all and it is about a 3 hour trip. there is one chute but you can get out and walk around it and get back in. As for sunscreen and chapstick just put it in a baggie and let it ride in someones beer float.

The river is going to be low, so you will be able to stand up in it with no problem.

I'm going to look into rigging my big cooler to float, so we can put a lot of beverages in it.

Get a mesh bag for sun screen and stuff that can get wet, and tie the bag to your tube.

We may have to go to the Comal River to have any real tubing action. That river is spring fed, so it stays the same level. It's also quite "refreshing" when you first jump in.

While I'm sad we won't be able to make it, I would like to offer a suggestion from my tubing daze...bring a beach towel while tubing...no matter what sunscreen you use, you will get hot/burnt and having a beach towel to spread over your legs can save a lot of agony later...s shirt with sleeves...even short ones can bo of help with this as well..........

Looks like Dave has to work

Postby Cindy » Mon Jul 27, 2009 7:25 pm

It looks like Dave will have to work that weekend. Teachers go back to school on that Monday. So, I may be coming with Julie. We have not worked that out yet.

Well, if we're out in the river most of the day, we'll definitely be hungry... but also worn out...

So something easy sounds good
