...we have talked this up a bit and I am going to make it official...
Lake Bistineau State Park, just east of Shreveport La, October 27,28,29...Lake Bistineau is a 17,000+acre "sunken" cypress lake located just SE of Shreveport La...the park has canoe rentals and marked trails thru the Cypress...it also has full facilities and even cabin rentals...I will be contacting the park and find out about group camping and any other relevant info...let me know if these dates sound good to you...the 27th is actually my birthday so it would make a heck of a BD party...be there or be square.......

If . . . I can get the time off, get the trailer finished, get off my butt!, I would love to represent the South Texas group. That's a lot of ifs, but it looks like a perfect time slot, and would really love to see that part of the country. My grandfather and uncle used to live in Jefferson, TX, and we would go fishing on Caddo Lake. Fell in love with those cypress trees, and the cypress in my trailer would probably like the visit to see relatives as well.

Put me down as a definite maybe.

Wait a sec--is this just a ruse to get presents?

WOW !!! You must know that I'm wanting to get this Jewel Box finished by Labor Day, now you're tempting me with all this fall camping !!!

Will that be spooky... being right there around Halloween? No voodoo , okay?

I'll pencil it in... Looks like a doable drive for me.

Did I hear someone say margaritas??????????????
When do we have to have definate decision Jack?
Do we make reservations now?
Oct is busy month. Charles is definately out. Hunting it top priority.....
Let us know about reservations and I'll try to decide. I could always drive over just for the day to visit. Not that far for me.

Couple of friends (one from Stonewall, LA) & I have application in for an Antelope hunt in Montana during October. Should know about that in a few days :worship: . In any case we should be finished with that & back home before Oct 27 (my B'day is the 21st). Tentatively, wife & I are in barring some disaster or family obligations  .

MJ--if I can make it, and if you want the help, I'll bring along my little friend:
ebay marguerita maker clicky .
I constructed mine with a 2 gallon cooler--will mix up about a dozen frozen insinkeratorgaritas at a time. Can't have you doing all the heavy lifting on your "special" day.

Louisiana gathering.

cool.... this could be a nice fall gathering . What's the weather like down there around the end of October?

I know we have McTeardrops in Texarkana and Charles & Linda in Lufkin(she'll be busy with craft shows though) ... hopefully other new ( and old) teardrop friends.

Julie

...I will be checking with the park for specific info but reservations can be made thru the park website that I posted...they do have a group campground that we might want to use if there are enough folks coming...I will make a new trip by the park in the coming week to see specifically where we might wanna setup and bring the AT along to show 'em what we will be camping in...the weather should be nice and cool so a campfire is a must and should be like it is in your neck of the woods at that time of year...may even have some nice color to the trees leftover....
