South Central Gathering

Postby CPASPARKS » Fri Nov 10, 2006 4:24 pm

OK...

It looks like there is enough interest in a fall/winter gathering for the South Cental group.

I think it may be too late to reserve enough spots together anytime before Thanksgiving. My experience is that anytime after Thanksgiving camping slows down.

I think DaveL has been to more Texas State Parks in Central and East Texas than I have.

I know that we can't centralize a location for convenience of everyone...but here are my suggestions:

Palo Duro Canyon (EdEvans and the three Texas Teardrops are up in that area). That is in the Texas Panhandle and good for the New Mexico teardroppers.

Lake Ray Roberts (Buck is in Denton, I am in Burkburnett, Loader is in Ft. Worth, St. John at Lake Fork, DaveL in Ennis, Vairman in Irving, and many others in the Metroplex Area) Ray Roberts is north of Denton.

Lake Murray in South Central Oklahoma (Oklahoma Jewel, Karol and other Okies). Lake Murray is near Ardmore, Oklahonma.

Lake Somerville (closer to the San Antonio, Houston, Corpus Christi teardroppers)

Tyler State Park (this is a very big state park)Lots of campgrounds. Probably closer for our Louisiana and maybe Arkansas teardroppers.

Any more suggestions????

Let's pick one...and make plans before it is too late. I would prefer one sooner better than later.

I think we should have one at least once every other month! :)

I wish I could vote for more than one....

Being in OKC area, Lake Murray is closest (and I hear , very pretty ) if you don't know , it's there on the OK/TX border.

But Ray Roberts and Tyler sound good too..

That's right,... you can't please everybody but DaveL and Cindy have proven that you can drive anywhere with a teardrop !!! They will drive for miles to be at a teardrop gathering !!!

LET"S GO !!!!

It seems to me that Ray Roberts would be a good central location for the south central area. Center from south Texas, LA, West TX, Northern Oklahoma.

Ray Roberts would be good for us. We're just south of Ft. Worth.

I voted for Somerville but Tyler is nice too.
Kinda last minute thing but Sherri said it's time to go to the beach. So we'll be in Matagorda next weekend. Depending on the weather. They have a brand new RV park there.

Sonetpro, that is really a great looking rv park. Cindy has been saying it's time for the coast. I don't think we'll make it before Thanksgiving though. We're in Texarkana right now waiting on the arrival of a new grandbaby!

As far as parks I voted for Lake Somerville, but like Julie said Cindy and I will go almost anywhere for a gathering. Just name the date and place.

Those wide open sea-breeze campsites remind me of a winter night at Panama City Beach, camping in our old pop-up. Thirty degrees, thirty five mph winds right off the water ... and the XXX **** heater broke!

What dates are we looking at? That's more important to me than location. I really don't care where. Anywhere that teardropers are at is a good location in my opinion. Good friends, good food, good fun. Thats all we need!

I'm still building away ( slowly ). That sounds good; but as to a place and time. I'm open to a gathering in the area. I may have to tent-it again. I'm game! :)

Lise and I are up for anything you want to do. Really like the idea of Lake Ray Roberts. However have heard nothing of good things about Lake Murray. By the way I worked all day on my running lights finally got them fixed. What a pain in the ass. Buck & Lise

With all we have goin' on at this time, I don't know if me and the missus could make anything before the first of the year but would vote for Sommerville or Tyler...Ray Roberts is too light polluted by the big city...would like to do PaloDuro/Caprock Canyons but want to take a week or so to do them......

I'd love Somerville because my folks live close by. I haven't finished my tear yet but know my parents would love to come by with me and see what everyone's built.

WarPony...
Palo Duro is great....we love...I mean absolutely love Palo Duro.

The wildlife is abundant...Deer and Wild Turkey walk into camp every morning and evening....they are probably use to being fed.

The morning sunrise and evening sunset is absolutely gorgeous.
