Thanks for all the posts and votes.
I will call the top three sites that have been voted on today to see which one can accomodate us in an area together on the second or third week in December.
Does that sound fair?

I have called for availability of Lake Somerville and Ray Roberts Lake. I called Lake Murray in Oklahoma but had to leave a message...and have not heard back from them as of 5:00 p.m.
Here is the skinny:
The Texas State Parks do not book specific campsites...it is on a first come first served basis
Available Campsites on Dec 14-17
Lake Somerville Birch Creek 97 sites
Ray Roberts Lake Isle du Bois 100 sites
I see where Lake Murray has 450 campsites...but do not know if they can reserve together and how many would be available for reservations.
I have camped at Ray Roberts many times and all sites are good. At the Isle of Dubois, Deer Ridge Area is very nice.
I have never been to Lake Somerville...
Let's do Lake Ray Roberts on Friday December 15 and Saturday December 16. If anyone wants to come earlier or stay later...that would be great.
You can book reservations online or their central reservation phone number is 512 389 8900

COOL.....
Lake Murray doesn't take reservations..... It would be colder there , so south of the Red River might be better.....brrrr....
I'll start planning !

Yipppeeee!!!
I am sooooo there! I may go up on Thursday since I am so close and then drive into work Friday morning!!
As I said before, Lake Murray does not take reservations. It is first come, first serve. You go and claim whichever site you want and go pay the site coordinator or whomever is in the little guard shack (I have never seen anyone in the shack though.). I just inquired about this last week because I was going to stay up there a few days after the retreat that I was attending, but decided not to.
I wonder if I booked multiple sites and got there early on Friday and claimed sites grouped together, would they honor it. That way if anyone wants to send me their money, I can book for us all.
I'll call and find out and let you know today.

Todah.... that's how it was done at Beavers Bend last year and for some at Bernice Park in Sept........ at some Oklahoma parks, i.e. I could call the morning of the arrival and pay for 10 spots on my credit card , then everybody pay me back.
I wish OKLA would get more on the reserve america site.
I will have to check into this fall / winter gathering and see how the $$ works out...... send money !!! haha

Okay, I just called Lake Ray Roberts. They said that I could book multiple cites and when I got there in person they would indicate occupancy for the multiple sites that I chose.
If I do it as a group, I would have to pay for 1night/camp site at the time of the phone reservation (the 512#). Once I get to the camp, I would be responsible for paying the balance at the guard shack. When people who I am holding the sites for come, they need to go to the shack and give the rangers their tag numbers and show a dr's license, and pay the $5 camp entry fee (I will send to you the reservation number so you will have that also.)
Anyone who wants to have me reserve a site for them, PM me by Tues, Nov 21, and I'll tell you where to send the money.
Saturday afternoon, I'll go scope out the park and see which are good sites.
Here is the local Ray Roberts number:

Lac Bistineau, jambalya, 'etoufee, red beans and rice, Isle du Bois....
Do I detect a trend developing?

Great CPASparks!
Sorry, OKJewel, I did not see your post prior to my offer to reserve for the group, but the offer is still open.
I am about a 30 or 40 minute drive from the campground!
We all can have a pre-Christmas party, gag gifts, and decoration contest (OklahomaJewel, bring yo' best game!

)
I'm excited already!

We'll be unable to camp that weekend, we will be driving down to pick my daughter up from college for her Christmas break. Maybe, just maybe, if I get a chance, we'll try to drive to the lake for a bit on Sat afternoon.
Hate to be missing it.

Cindy and I have a Sunday School Party Friday evening, but we may just be packed and leave to go there after it's over.
We're reserved for Friday and Saturday nights.

That is the weekend before we leave for Florida to pickup the Airstream. I want to get there early enough so I can work on it and insure that it is roadworthy.
I don't think that we'll be able to make it although plans sometimes change. I'll revisit this when the time gets closer.
