Fall/Winter Gathering UPDATE ****
Posted: Mon Dec 04, 2006 2:03 pmHey Guys, I went hiking in at Lake Ray Roberts - Du Bois yesterday (Yes, I braved the cold and bundled up.)
While I was there, they closed off the Quail Run section.
Drats, that section has the best views and sites. Neverless, I called the park this morning, and was told that it will be closed until March.
The Deer Ridge section and all others will be open. They closed the Quail Run area because they get less business during the winter months and it gives them less area to patrol. The trails are still open in the Quail Run area though.
Just remember to ask for the Deer Ridge section. Prime sites on the lake: 56, 57, 58, 59, 66-75 (Any site across the road from these will give you bit of a view of the lake>) Also,
I notice that a few sites, back-up to the playground. Unless you like that much activity around your campsite, be sure to ask at checkin if your site is one of these.
