Great Forum site.
I am looking foward to owning my first teardrop.
Is finding an old one to rebuild very easy in north Texas.
I found a Scotty, but I dont even know if it qualifies as a teardrop.
Its kinda bigger than i want. but I might use the frame/axles.
Any help would great.

Hi Duck,
I am just up 287 from you in Burkburnett.

My experience has been that teardrops in this part of the state are non-existent.

I know a man in Gainesville that makes them on ocassion. PM me and I will get you in touch with him.

Hey Duck, I have an original 40's model Kampmaster in Tulsa that could find it's way to Texas for a nominal($2500) fee. It's a unique original survivor. look in the album section to see pics. And build or buy, it's good to have you on board and you can come camping with whatever you have .As long as you at least dream/lust for a teardrop.

Thanks Guys.
This Forum looks great.
The Scotty thing didnt work out, but I am wanting to Build my own anyway.
I like the Benroy.
One more Q,
I have a boat trailer with 12" tires that I could modify to use as the frame.
Will a 2000 pound limited trailer work?
Looks like all the others I see have beefer tires.

Well I should have googled it bofore i asked.
I see the red trailers are rated at 1560
And 13" tires are an option.
So I guess I have a start

Most of us replace tires simply for aesthetic reasons. I'm going to be running 8" tires for the time being on mine.

It's rare to use more than a 2000lb axle.

That will be a good start to have a boat trailer.

You might want to check out Sonetpro's build Here.
Good luck on your build. Ask lots of questions there will be somebody arround to help out shortly.

Most of the guys and gals run auto tires. The boat trailer is more than enough. You might end up shortening the tongue if it is long.

Enjoy the build.

Duck Daddy,

Welcome to the forum.

Ditto on what OKJewel said. The gathering on Dec. 15 -17 would be great opportunity for you see some Tears up close, take pictures, ask questions, and just have good time. :) It could give you a headstart on planning your tear over Christmas. ;)

Our teardrop is about 50% done and we'd love to come to your gathering on the 16th to take a look at all your great teardrops and get some more ideas on our build.. We'll be sure and bring a camera..
We're in Frisco, Tx. so it sure won't be a very long drive.
