I got the following information on Sea Rim Park.
Thank you for your interest in Sea Rim State Park. We anticipate the
park reopening by May 1, 2007. You may call the park office at
409-971-2559. You may or may not be able to reach someone at that
number. If you have trouble reaching someone it is probably because
everyone is out working in the park so please keep trying. If there is
anything else I can do for you please let me know.

I'll be there. I'll do a shrimp boil one night.

Great. I will make a crab salad! Who else will join us? Maybe we can fill the park?
I hope the aligators are still ok! Dave saw one the last time we were there.

Not to kill the good buzz, but the key word is "anticipate" opening. If they do, I'll be there.

I hope so. Thats one of my favorite places to fish. There's a rig a couple-3 miles out and the fishing there is fantastic.

You kayak out that far?

Steve, I usually fish about a mile out,It just depends on where the fish are. High Island is my favorite haunt. I chase the shrimp boats. The action can get pretty hot. Sometimes I venture out further depending on the swells. At a Kingfish tourny last summer we went out to a rig 3 miles out but no luck so we went out 4 miles trying to get hooked up. I won second in the tourny.
Best place to fish is on the edge of the blue water and that varies day to day.

Todah,
It's right down near Sabine Pass, on the beach.

I spent a lot of time on those beaches in the 70s. That area has taken a real beating. The highway I used to drive to get to the beach is gone. I wouldn't count on the park being open. The dollars needed to restore that coastline are just not there.
