Myself and a friend and her hubby and son are planning to camp at Cherokee Landing St Park , on the north end of Lake Tenkiller on Mothers Day weekend, May 10-11. This is about an hour east of Tulsa, OK

It's that weekend, because there is a big Strawberry Festival in Stilwell about 30 minutes to the east, and also in Muskogee the Medieval Castle has activites every weekend .. Muskogee is about an hour west of Lake Tenkiller....

.... AND because it's SPRING IN OKLAHOMA !!!!

State parks don't take reservations.....I'm planning to take off work that Friday and get there that afternoon and secure our spots .... there is a good COE park (Snake Creek or Chicken Creek) that does, south from Cherokee Landing so that would be a backup.. We don't expect it will be busy though .

Anybody wanna join us? Nic from California may be in town around that weekend and come too !

I would love to be there! However, that is my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. So a party is planned. And since my husband's brother and sister are....well......let's just say we are hoping they won't show up. (And they probably won't, even though we all live within 5 miles of each other.) So my girls and I are hosting.
I would rather be camping with you guys!

Got this from the park manager by email today :

There should not be a problem with finding sites to camp here at Cherokee Landing on the weekend of May 10 and 11. The only time that we are full is usually on Labor Day, July 4, and Memorial Day weekends. If you are concerned you could call us on Thursday before you are arriving and we will be glad to tell you if we still have sites available. We do not have a designated beach, but there is an area where people swim.

Thanks you for inquiring about Cherokee Landing State Park.
