Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Can you guys help me out with some recommendations, I'm not haveing a lot of online luck. With the gas the way it is, my long trips have been cut back, but wouldn't you know it...I've never camped this close to home I know there is stuff around Mt Scott, and Lake Lawtonka, and such, but where is the best?

Does it get any better than Mt Scott and the RV park on Lake Lawtonka? Especially at night when they are firing illumination rounds over on the artillery range.

Here's another option, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge - Doris campground is pretty nice, here's a picture.

i hear that lake murray over by ardmore is a good place as well.. have a couple friends that go there from time to time

Wichita Wildlife Refuge is great! I camped there this past fall. They have deer, buffaloe, and Longhorns roaming freely. There is also a field of prairie dogs that put on quite a shoe. There is a small townl nearby where there is a raging river running through its. There are a lot of small artisan shops there as well for hours of browsing.

Lake Murray is good too. Be sure to visit Tucker Tower.

I miss Oklahoma, wish I had the teardrop when I was there. On the other hand, it took me 50 years to get outta that godforsaken place.

Thanks Kurt, I remembered when you started the map, but alas, there is a big blank spot over where I live. Guess I'll try and fix that by making some reviews of places here. This gives me a project for this camping season.

I absolutely agree with Todah (& others?) about Camp Doris in the Wichita Mtns Wildlife Refuge. It's a beautiful campground & depending on occupancy, time of week, etc., you can find a campsite as secluded or as open as you want. The wildlife is great & you're within reasonable driving distance of lotsa attractions. The Ft Sill artillery range noise can get 'exciting' sometimes but it ain't really bothersome. We'll be spending some time there again this year (if we can afford fuel to get there )

If you want to venture north, go towards Hinton to Red Rock Canyon...
not a big lake, but the heat rises and might be a cool place to camp in the hot summer.

Then again, I left there to sail the Caribbean for a couple of years. Guess I coulda sailed in circles at lake Hefner

It'll be May 17th 18th and 19th and I think my mind is made up on Doris Campground. I'm not really good with advanced planning(this is way early for me) so I'll confirm this prolly next week. But everyone's invited!

We stayed in some CCC cabins in Osage State park on hwy 60 on the west side of Bartlesville. It was during the OK Motzart festival in '92. I enjoyed it but didn't check out the camping spots. We went to the Tom Mix museum in Dewey and Woolirock

My folks were both from OK -one from Edmond and the other Bartlesville.
