************* AUGUST 8, 9, 10 ******************

No it's not time for the Sooners and Longhorns to battle, but the state border runs right thru Lake Texoma.... so LET'S GO CAMPING!!!

Y'all know that everywhere in OK and TX and ARK for that matter, is hotter than 7734 in August. But that's what air conditioners and lakes and cold beer is for!
CANEY CREEK, OK
directly south of Kingston, OK
Let's concentrate on sites A12-A10 and A24 on down to the teens...
A12 is closest to the bathhouse
There is a tenting site across from the bathhouse.

reservations and more at www.reserveamerica.com or recreation.gov

Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance.
Sites are $12-$18/ night.
The entrance gate is open 6 am to 10 pm. Campers may exit the park at any time.
Gate attendants are on duty during the season No day use allowed at this park.

In Oklahoma's cross timbers region, the Caney Creek Campground on Lake Texoma provides a desirable atmosphere for those seeking fun and fellowship with good neighbors from far and near. Lake Texoma is a large reservoir with an excellent fishery and many access points.
The Caney Creek Campground offers 42 electrical sites and 10 basic sites. It features a small playground, trailer dump station, boat ramp with courtesy dock, shower/toilet facility, and paved access. The shoreline is somewhat rocky with only a small area suitable for swimming. Small children should be watched carefully.

More directions, info and planning will follow.....

Sounds good to us. I should be a five weeks out from my second knee surgery by then and ready for some time away from the ole homeplace. :?
The first weekend would probably be better for us since the next weekend would be the last one before teachers here have to get back into the new school year.

Let us know when and where and we should be able to be there.

I'm looking at some things online to see if there are still reservable spots... might even venture down there one weekend soon.

Julie,
I think that we should go to either Caney Creek or Johnson Creek because we can reserve specific sites. I think we should camp August 8-9 at Caney Creek in sites 10, 11, 12, 31, 32, 39, 40, 41 or other sites in that group. Seems to be close to the water and the bathroom - my specifications. What do you say, will that do? Say yes, and I will get my reservation today.

Cindy,
Where are the campgronds you suggested?

Caney Creek is just south of Kingston, OK at the end of hwy 70B
Johnson Creek is east of Kingston, OK and across the lake , over the bridge from the Texoma State Park.

Eisenhower is on the TX side, and more $$ for day fees per person.

I just looked and Caney Creek has a lot of empty spots for that 2nd weekend.

Start thinking about it and me & Cindy will post something for sure later.

Thanks !

Julie
