LCGIII UPDATES......

Well we are getting very close to time to go...so here are a few updates and requests...

1) TABLES TABLES TABLES....anyone who has extra tables they can bring...PLEASE DO...we need SEVERAL to help hold all the food on Fri and Sat night...also Julie sez, she needs an extra table for whatever it is she is doing....

2) MAIN DISHES...since most near everyone thought Bar-B-QUE was a good idea again, we need to nail down EXACTLY who is cooking up main dishes...we need around 20 folks to cook up brisket, pork, sausage and what have you...please respond in this thread...if you are going to do a side dish of some sort, PLEASE DON'T RESPOND HERE but rather in the LCG ffoood thread

3) T-SHIRTS...due to circumstance and situations that have spiraled far out of my control, THERE WILL BE NO T-SHIRTS THIS YEAR...I am very sorry for this but I just can't help it at this time...I hope y'all will understand and forgive me..I'M SORRY...please don't throw rocks...they hurt...

4) As has been stated before, there IS NO WATER in the lake, except for the main channel, so leave your boats/canoes/kayaks at home...

5) Ranger Tom is no longer at the park...in his place we have Ranger Dave...the cop from last year...everytime I have tried to get hold of him, he has been out of the office, so I really don't know the status of our using the group camp kitchen...if needed...or his attitude towrds us in general...I will continue to try contacting him about this and other issues such as doubling up, storm damage and hurricane refugees...

6) What a long strange year it's been...I am sure looking forward to relaxin', campin' and hanging with friends...both old and new.....

7) Laisezz Les Bon Temps(Tears) Roulet....AAaaiiiiiiEeeeEEeEEeeeeEEEEEEEEEEE.......

Hi madjack
Looking forward to meeting you and many others at your b-day celebration.

MJ, I will be doing a meat item -- probably pork butt or some kind of sausage, depending on what size BBQ I can bring with me.

As for the cop from last year, just have Spinnernut deal with him. I understand they know each other well.

Clarification please....
2) are you talking about Friday night or Saturday night potluck?
If only one night, then what's the plan for the other night?
We did potlucks both nights last year .

Eddie -- leave some thing for the rest of us to bring... it's nice to have different KINDS of side dishes

I just talked with Chris...he was the younger enforcement officer from last year...he sez David is planing to accommodate us as we have been in the past, that they are laying out some boardwalks into the dried Lake bed so folks can look close up at the ???...that storm damage was minimal and there are no "displaced " persons at the park at present...Ranger David is supposed to call me tomorrow........

........................................WARNING WARNING WARNING..............................................

I was also advised, due to the fact that there are true idiots in the world, NO FLAME SOURCES, including grills, smokers and stoves will be allowed on the wooden decks due to the loss of a few of them to people being careless with fire...I was told this rule will be enforced!!!!!!!!!!

Julie, I will provide something Cajun for EVERYONE on Fri night...the main potluck will be on Sat nite...the only thing needed for Fri are such things as bowls spoon/forks(sporks???)...if anyone wants to bring a salad or garlic bread for Fri nite that is OK as well and of course DESERTS for both nights!!!!!!!!

I was thinking we'd set up a webcam on your campsite this year, so the whole forum could share the excitement of your world famous exploding turkey.

There is just one bathhouse but very modern, plenty of showers etc.

And with a big group like this, you won't regret bringing your bicycle.

Night time weather has been pretty darn chilly the last couple of years, got down to 39* the first year - so keep that in mind for early morning breakfast and sleeping , etc.

...good news and bad news...first the good...finally was able to talk to Ranger David, who is now in charge and was told how much they love us and look forward to this weekend...also that our gathering is known about thru out the state park system and all the other Rangers are jealous...basically, all will be as last year and they will do whatever they can to accommodate us and make things as pleasant as possible...new camp hosts, who have been informed to do everything they can for us...sounds good too me...oh yeah, David and his wife will be camping with us in site #2

...now for the bad news...Marlene(aka the poor girl) injured her foot in the beginning of June...went to a Doc, who told her she had arthritis and too learn to live with it...she limped on, all summer in a lot of pain...she finally couldn't stand it any longer and went to another Doc...he put her in an MRI machine, where they discovered, she had a major stress fracture of the Tibia and the large meta-tarsal bone in her foot, along with damaged tendons, ligaments and bone marrow edema...she has spent the last month off her feet and is now doing quite well, however, when she checked in at work today, she was told that her request for vacation time for the LCG, had not been granted and she is scheduled to work that weekend...since we are a one car family, we are not sure what we are going to do...Marlene is trying ti find someone to cover for her on those days...but who knows...she doesn't like to drive long distances and on routes, she has never driven but if she has to, she will come up on Wed and drop me and the tear off and return home for work, coming back up on Mon or Tues to re-join me...keep your fingers crossed for us on this....

MJ, with all the folks coming that weekend, we will find a way to get you and your stuff to LCG III, and get Marlene there when she's not working. Plenty of tow vehicles will be around to help out.

How far are you from Bistenau?
