Hey Danny
Not putting any pressure on you, But have you decided the dates of the river rafting gathering? Remember Cloudcroft is the fourth of july weekend.
Seems those Guadalupe River campsites fill up in a hurry. Late July or early August would be great for us. Only a 525 mile one way trip!!! We will try to make it any time it is scheduled.

First of August would be fine. Sign up Macy and I. We will be ready for some of that COOOOOOL water. Seems like the place we stayed would allow two trailers per site. With two fees of course.

Are Ya'll talking about the Guadalupe river @ New Braunfels? If so let me Know as I live in NB and know many of the owners/outfitters along river road. I could possibly arrange a camping, tubing/rafting package deal with some friends that have a private camp grounds along the river and they also run a tube/raft business with shuttle service.

Hey David
Yes the Guadalupe is where we stayed last year. Danny recommended a particular site he stayed in on his way down to Matagorda Bay. We decided to stay there on our long way home. I can not remember the name but it is on River Road. Danny will probably reply when he logs on.

Don't know how familiar Ya'll are with New Braunfels and the Guadalupe, but River road is a major tourist area. We see 15-20 thousand tourists every weekend through the peak season. (Memorial day through Labor day), twice that number on holiday weekends! That being said there are some options I can suggest. Many of the campgrounds located right on the river are extremely crowded and often reserved a year in advance, making it difficult to get many sites located together. There are other camping areas located upstream from the most popular areas (un-advertised local secret), where there is limited access to the river for tube/raft/kayak outfitters. Making for a less crowded experience. A couple of these places have great accommodations, ie: electric/water hookups shower/restrooms. One has a rather large group pavilion with about a dozen picnic tables under it. These are popular with scout and church groups. This would easily accommodate 15-20 trailers. Down side here would be that to float the river at these areas you have to provide your own "shuttle" service from the less frequented parts of the river. (haul the rafts/tubes and people yourselves). They do offer shuttle service to the more popular/crowded areas. I will check with them to find out about available dates. I'll also check with a place called River Road Camp http://www.riverroadcamp.com although they are in the middle of the crowds and very popular, and might not be available for a gathering until after labor day. I guess I'll just check with several places that I know about first, and see what's available when and then folks can decide.

Anyone thats interested, let me know your thoughts

Sorry this got a little long!!

There are usually spots out at canyon lake but you have to drive to a tubing rental or to Schlitterbahn.
