Mardi Gras Parade at Crystal Beach

As most of you know, the Texas Upper Coast, in particular the Bolivar Pennensula and Crystal Beach suffered total devastation from Hurricane Ike.The people are working to get their town BACK. They always have a Mardi Gras Parade, and some of us feel we should still have the parade on Feb. 21 at 11:30 am. We thought about getting as many Tear Drop Trailers in the parade as possible. It's very laid back and casual - nothing like the bigger parade in Galveston. This would be a great way to bring some good spirit and hope back to the Penninsula home owners. Many lost their homes, Churches, friends and businesses.
We have our slab left and could possibly help with some type of accomodations, but most would be what is refered to as dry camping. Lets get together, show off our TD's and have fun and help build back Texas.

Let me see how my schedule is. I haven't camped on the beach in forever! Sounds like fun. Do you have to decorate or throw beads?

You don't have to decorate your TD as they will draw attention themselves, but Linda wants to decorate ours. We will be throwing beads, but I will try to have enough for everyone and I will register anyone that is coming. I just need to know who wants to come and enjoy the fun.
LET'S HAVE A PARADE

Fire Aunt,
Try to contact Big DE and get them to come. I think there is someone in Galveston that may have a TD, so if you know try to reach them. The more the merrier.

We will be there. Febuary's going to be a bit chilly for beach camping. Do you know if High Island RV park is still open? If not I know we can still camp beyond the barricades.

High Island RV is open as is several on the Penninsula, but they may be full with workers. I will try to make a trip down and stop at every RV Park and see what that weekend looks like for spaces.

I checked on the RV parks in High Island and on the Penninsula and they are full with workers or people that lost their homes. Anyone wanting to is welcome to park their TD on our lot and we will just have a Gathering. There are no facilities so it will be "Dry camping. Just let me know who will be there so I can give you directions to our lot. Please come and enjoy.

Hey, could you put up tables and covers and charge people to come to a party? Might be a way to make money. I guess would have to have a tent with a potty?

How do we get lined up on Sat. I may not get there until Sat morning - I'm not sure I'll do dry camping but I love a parade. Can we have people riding in our tear throwing beads for the parade? Can you get us some bead to throw and I want some bunting - mylar in purple, green and yellow, do you know where they might have some? Yipee!

We will have Gumbo after the parade and everyone is invited. All I need is a head count of who will be there to eat.
