Hey y'all.... welcome welcome welcome !!!!! LCG (Lousiana Cypresswood Gathering .., or may be renamed the Louisiana Craziest Gathering) is the party of the south !!!! We've packed the campground and had an absolute blast the last three years!!!

Good of you to jump in here on the forum,... be sure to post a "hey" on the Newbie section too so folks in Tenn, 'bama, and Miss. will catch ya too... they might have some gatherings around there this spring/summer.

Watch the LCG thread as it gets to the end of summer and check out the pics from the last couple of years. I think the reigning queen of decor, Linda, is not competing this year but it's always spooky. We had a blast on the dance floor with the Monster or Bayou Ball last year and whoever makes cocktails Saturday afternoon --- that's getting to be a tradition !

Welcome !

Julie

 Ok Rookies, bring your dancing shoes, a coat (yes it can get cold at night) and bring food. There is a wonderful store but it is a bit of a drive. Oh and bring your camera

If you don't dance you will need a chair to watch. Oh and definitely bring a chair that you can carry to the party site.

Bring your appetite.

Did they put the water back?

AuntiM, they closed the gates...again...on 1/31/09...they may raise and lower the lake again to get the Salvinia to move out from the trees, they continue to spray, spread the Salvinia weevil and mechanically harvest the plant...the LDWF "claims" to have eradicated 50-75% of the Salvinia but are still having problems reaching it under the cypress trees...one of the reasons to raise the water level is to allow better access by boat crews w/sprayers as the weather warms and growing season starts up...they are also supposed to deploy an "oil containment" boom around the boat launch area of the State Park(LCG home) to keep the boat lanes/launch area clear of the weed...hopefully we aill have (open) water for this years gathering..........
