July 4th - where ya campin?

Postby tearible » Tue May 26, 2009 8:11 pm

I camped at Stephen F. Austin State Park, west of Houston, over the Memorial Day weekend. The grounds and trails were nicely groomed and it was a good trip. In addition to the deer and mosquitoes, I had lots of human visitors of course. :)

So...I was specifically wondering if anyone is going to camp at Lake Texana in Edna, TX during July 4th weekend. Nearby Brackenridge Park is supposed to do a fireworks display, so I made a reservation at Lake Texana State Park (thought it would be slightly more peaceful). Stop by if you'll be there. I'll be the guy in the teardrop. ;)

Stone Lake, WI near Hayward, Rice Lake. My parents have land there and the clan will be gathering there for the week.

On the waterfront here in Juneau...fireworks are at midnight on July 3rd because it doesn't get dark enough at night that time of year. We plan to barbeque and watch the show from the Tear...then crash out till morning to dodge the late night "after-fireworks" traffic!!!!

I try to avoid the "holiday" camping. Too crowded, too noisy, too much for my liking.

X3! On holidays around here there are just too many people that think it takes a pickup load of beer and a loud stereo to go camping. Luckily they only go 3 weekends a year  .

The weekend after the 4th is usually nice & quite ;)
