I got a get well card today from some of the best friends that a person can have. I sat and cried for 30 minutes.
No, I'm not bragging because people sent me a card.
Five years ago when Dave and I started the Bluebonnet, we were solitary people who enjoyed being by our selves. We didn't interact much with others or feel like we needed others to have a good time. Sure, we had friends along the way but nobody we couldn't live without.
Since that first gathering at Purtis Creek, we have amassed a fortune in friends who we care about and who care about us. I want to give a big thank you to all our teardrop friends, some we know and some we don't, for making our life full and for loving us and each other in a way that is truly amazing. Cindy

Hey Cindy,
Let me say first that you guys were missed very much in Cloudcroft.
For many years Charles and I too were pretty much "loners" as I call it. We were very content just being by ourselves. We took many vacations and camped but it was us and our girls.
As you know we were also at the first Texas teardrop gathering (that we know of) at Purtis Creek. Of course that's were we got to know you and Dave.
Those that were at Purtis Creek saw little of us because Charles thought he had to be on the go and not sitting around visiting with people he didn't know.
Now we wouldn't even think of going off camping without some of our friends and wish all of our friends could be there. Charles still will be found sitting at our site alone at times but he has come a long way and enjoys visiting with everyone now. He asks me many times who is going to be at the next gathering and why some folks aren't coming.
I will agree with you that our teardrop friends have changed our lives forever. We love them all and can't imagine what we would do without the love and support that we all give each other.
Charles and I hope you are feeling better by the day and doing what the Doctor says.
God Bless our teardrop friends
Linda and Charles

Teardropper friends are the greatest. Cindy, Take care and get well soon. Hoping you can feel our thoughts and prayers. I wish we could go camping with everyone at least once a month. That is not possible, but the times we do get to see each other are great and between times we have the forum and pictures. It is hard to understand how you can care so much about friends you do not get to see very ofter but as all teardroppers know it is a true friendship. Let's go camping. Ed & Ruby

Hey Cindy,
You & Dave were truely missed at Cloudcroft. It's a very pretty place & $5.00 showers great. Keep doing what the doctor says & get well soon . Hopefully we can all do Cloudcroft again next year. This is a special group of people.

This all sounds familiar. I had the same discussion with Linda after my first Beaver's Bend Gathering.
It must be part of what draws us to teardrops.
I, like others, am getting better at joining in (well maybe). I know I only see some of you once a year at Beaver's Bend , but look forward to that all year. You have become my friends. I only wish I could make it to more of your gatherings.

I do monitor the South Central forum all the time.
Cindy I know you haven't been able to camp much this summer but do get heathy soon. I look forward to seeing you and Dave and the new teardrop next spring.

Add Linda and me to the "loners club." We probably only have 5 or 6 real friends between the two of us.
We've had the pleasure of meeting several of y'all at the three outings we visited. Even though our normal tendencies kicked in and we didn't hang around much, y'all made us feel very welcome. So much so that we decided to build a teardrop and hope to become one of the bunch. We will be at LCG IV although I'm not sure it will be in a tent or our teardrop.

Hey Cindy and Dave
Hope you are well on the way to a complete mending. Macy and I are so sorry we missed BB and CC this year. We too have been pretty much loners
for the 38 years we have been married.
We really have enjoyed seeing our new friends and can't wait to see you all again.
Here's hoping the Guadalupe River Adventure as well as LCG brings all our old friends and hopefully many new friends together for good food and good fun.
Charles and Linda, please try and make the GRA or LCG as Macy and I have missed your company.
thanks
Larry and Macy Purtle

Seems this thread fits a lot of people, we too were "camping loners", always picking a site off to itself and relaxing while watching everyone else. Since joining the fun at Petit Jean last year and actually attending LCG last year, we thought we were getting to come out of that shell somewhat.
I sit here and read of all of the adventures all are enjoying this summer and can only dream of being there, but the pics that are posted keep us in the spirit of wanderlust.
We have enjoyed the company of those we have met and hope to meet many more in the future.

The Same story echos with us – we first met our new friends at LCG II and were just a bit timid, but after a few more gatherings – we came out . Now we just “fit” in no matter where we are. Looking forward to the next gathering and meeting more friends

Add us to that group also. Whenever we camped, it was alone and preferably away from other people. Since joining this forum, that all has changed. For the better I might add.

Are we closet 'nice' people?

I think we may all be closet party animals who are afaid that others won't accept us as we are. Then, we come to a gathering and find out that anything we do can't be any worse than what somebody else has already done so we let a little of ourselves show. Then, we get accepted and somebody laughs at our jokes and we are hooked. If all these people think we are ok, then maybe the rest of the world won't be so bad afterall.

I need my Teardopper fix!

That or breaking my leg and then walking on it all day and being lubricated enough to dance on it all night. Let's see or blowing up a chicken in the smoker and having flames 30 ft high. Or all the other dumb stuff I have done.
