Any interest in a Bluebonnets and BBQ tour???

I used to lead a Bluebonnets and BBQ drive for a car club, and really miss it.

Would anyone be interested in doing something like this in April 2010?

The roads I chose in the past for sports cars would still work for touring with a TD, with the exception of a few sideroads that I could leave out.

Basically, we'd be meeting up in Dallas on a Friday night, and hit the road Saturday morning, with a goal of having lunch at Cooper's in Llano. From there, we could find a good state park to camp at for Saturday night.

Sunday, head back towards Dallas, stopping at another BBQ joint -- I used to take my tours to the Salt Lick, but there are others.

Another attraction is the bluebonnets, which, if we are lucky, will be in full bloom when we go. Usually they are, but it is not guaranteed.

Fredricksburg is another nice place to stop and wander around.

I keep off the Interstate for 80-percent of the trip.

Anyone interested?

...YES...due to time(and money) constraints, we can only do a couple of gatherings a year and are always looking for somethin new and interesting to do...since the Fall trip is taken up by the LCG, this would be both new and interesting for us...is this trip going down into the hill country or????????

Yes MJ, it is a hill country tour. Instead of just a destination gathering, this one would be about the journey, too.

The morning drives are somewhat time sensitive, to get to the BBQ places in time for lunch. But, the afternoons are more open to side trips and stopping for pictures, or stopping to wander around a cool town or landmark.

We would probably roll into a campground around suppertime.

I can make it a two day thing, or a three day thing. There is plenty to see, and lots of good que in that part of Texas.

Sounds like a good time, Glenn.

For me leaving Saturday AM is much more preferable, but a Friday off work will be doable in April.

Since you live in the Dallas area, you could meet us in the morning, if we do a Sat-Sun trip.

People from other places would probably want to gather here on Friday.

We are about 2 months out for my rebuild of '47 Kitt to be completed. (Hopefully before then).

I live in San Antonio so we might just meet you all in Dallas and work our way down with you all. We know some great BBQ places along the way! ;)

Please check out my album and give me some pointers if you have any! Just waiting on completing my frame before my sides and everything else gets put back on. I can't wait. Sure wish it was finished for the October gathering!

It will give me something to shoot for. I will be game, if I can get the thing ready by then.
