I hope to be going through Little Rock Ar. around 1 or 2 o'clock on Thur. I am a newbie and would like to know from pros. what way is the best way. Every time I put it to map quest or Google maps it gives me a different way. I do not pull my camper much over 65 do to the age (59) so Interstate dose not help much.

Don't know where in W. Tn. you're coming from and why it's routing you through Little Rock.

I'll be leaving Memphis around 7PM Thursday and it's basically two roads most of the way. 55S to Jackson, MS, Turn right and 220 bypass to 20W. That will get you within 12 miles of the park. I also don't tow much over 65, even if the speed limit is 70 or better.

When I first looked for Lake Bistineau that is the way I was going to go. But When Googled It said that way was 50 miles longer than going through Little Rock. But I do like the way only a few roads. My problem is if going I-40 then I-30 either going to Texarkana or going through Prescott Ar and then south.

Go I-30 to Prescott then south. We'll be going that way on Friday. Fred & Taz from Springfield, MO will spend Thursday nite in our driveway & will probably 'convoy' with us to LCG on Friday.

id have to agree with the i55 south from memphis to 20w out of jackson...that will bring you towards shreveport...bistineau is not far from 20....there is no short, quick, direct way thru ark--ever---unless youre just going somewhere in ark...

i may have not ever been to lcg, but i have been to lake bistineau...my ex father-in-law lives on the lake...

and by the way ...

www.maps.google.com has good map to the lake, and the street view even makes it better! So you get an idea of where the sign is and what the turn in looks like . Not the satellite but the Street View with the little yellow guy.

And this is the directions , correct me if I'm wrong.

Lake Bistineau State Park
103 STATE PARK ROAD
Doyline LA 71023

From Shreveport: Take I-20 east to exit 33 (Haughton/Filmore). Go to the right and then take an immediate left on Hwy 3227, which dead ends into Hwy 164. Take a right on 164 and go about 4-5 miles until you reach the town of Doyline. Take a right at the flashing caution light (Hwy 163). keep straight about 8 miles. Look for Lake Bistineau State Park Area 1 sign to the right. Turn left to enter main gate. Stop by the Park Office for further instructions!

There is a group staying over near Little Rock and going South. Gary and Trudy take 167 out of Little Rock and say it is good. You can get complete directions from them.

Things to avoid---Texarkana  The road construction over that way was a real mess last year and they have had a year to "work on it."
Interstate 20 West of Shrieveport LA OMG

US 167 out of Little Rock is a good route...not much traffic until ElDorado and once you hit I-20 at Ruston it is not far to your exit to Bistineau.....

When we went to Memphis last summer, we towed on the interstate all the way and went 65 mph - I just all the others pass right by me and they all waved - wasn't in too big of a hurry. I don't let others dictate my "safe" speed

My wife asked her trucker friends and they said Memphis to Little Rock on I 40 then I 30 to Hope Ark. then 29 that turns into 3 to I 20 to state park turn off. She has a friend that sold and installed storm shelters. After the big one he must have made hundreds of trips to Shreveport from Nashville Tn. So I guess this is the way we will go. Sometimes it is just better to say yes dear. And to tell the truth looks like a good way to go.
Yes I do a lot of waving as people pass me on the interstate.
Hey I just remembered my camper is 50 years old this year. I only wish I was 50 again.

 Good luck. Truckers know the fastest way but remember they also leave the divits in the road. If it gets too bumpy you can always change routs. ;)

From Shreveport to Hope to Little Rock and back is the way I go quite often. Whwn you get to Bossier City, take I 220 [left] and exit onto I 20 [left] to Filmore exit for Lake Bistineau. Dulcimer man
