They also do it the 3rd weekend of Sept which is free on our calendar so far this year.
Some very good folk singer friends of mine (Damon Carroll) turned me on to this down home style gathering in East Texas that they have been going to for years, and I think fits right in with the Teardrop camping mentality (Spinnernut's horn not withstanding, hmm or maybe so LOL). I have been wanting to go for a long time, and has been my #1 camping goal and now I have the chance, so why not invite my teardrop buddies! We're sure to be in good company.
Ticket prices are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate for the whole weekend, and Camping is $5 per person per night. So Friday thru Sat night for two people would be $45. That's as cheap as a State Park with no festival going on! I know there are many sites with hookups but not sure how many. I don't really need hookups, well maybe if it is warm, but I can ask if there is interest. I think the only way to get sites together would be to arrive together but again, with interest, I can ask, and these are good guys so they might be able to accommodate us, I think we would be a hit.

WHAT:
What is Pickin’ in the Pines? If you ask a musician that question, they would tell you it’s "An Acoustic Jam Fest". This is the musically correct explanation. Music fans that attend year in and year out would tell you it’s even more than that. It could also be called Pickin’, Campin’, Vistin’, Barbecuin’, Story Swappin’, Relaxin’, Sippin’, Strollin’ and Listenin’ In The Pines. It’s a weekend event so most folks arrive with a tent or a self-contained camper trailer and its BYOB. Guitar, flute, banjo, harmonica, fiddle, and mandolin are just a few of the instruments to enjoy and sing along with. Bring your own instrument of choice or just come and be a fan. Greenhorn campers enjoy a separate hot water shower and restroom for the guys and gals. If you can’t camp out, you are still welcome to "come and go" just for the Friday and/or Saturday night concerts should that be your preference.
WHEN:
Pickin’ In The Pines happens twice a year, the third weekends in May and September. Most people start arriving as early as they can on Friday and leave as late as they can on Sunday. As few lucky folks arrange for an extra day off on Monday so that they can stay Sunday night too.
WHERE:
The Camping/Concert Grounds are located on acres and acres of the most breathtaking property East Texas has to offer. It won’t be hard to pick an excellent shady spot to set up your personal campsite beneath the abundance of tall magnificent trees. The entire property is pristine unspoiled scenery at it’s best. Even the pleasant and picturesque drive to Pine Mills helps one to quickly forget the stress and strife of everyday life on the go.
WEEKEND SCHEDULE:
The good news is there isn’t much a schedule other than the concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings. The whole idea is to relax with friends and family and enjoy the incredible talent of T-Roy and many other gifted musicians who all pick and sing together throughout the days and nights.

Typical day at T-Roy’s Pickin’ In The Pines
Here’s a few ideas how on how to spend your time over the weekend…
Morning:
1. Cook yourself up some huevos rancheros or tear open that box of Twinkies you brought.
2. Mosey over to the coffee-gathering place where the Miller’s keep several fresh pots brewing.
Sit around a picnic table close to the coffee machine and listen to the talent who’ve already had their coffee and are now warming up to a good tune. Or sit in with them.
Take your dog for a walk down a beautiful Piney Woods path.
Start your own jam around your campsite.
If you’re athletically inclined you could go for a jog. If not, jog to your tent and make yourself a spicy bloody mary.
Or, just sleep in and wake to the sound of whippoorwills instead of the alarm clock!
Noon:
Head over to the shower/bathroom area and freshen up.
Throw some burgers or ribs on the grill.
Sip some ice tea or cold beer and partake in one of the jams going on.
Tour the peaceful family cemetery located on the property. This land has been in T-Roy’s family for over 200 years. Something about the tombstones dated back in the 1800’s makes you appreciate the history as well as the beauty of this place.
Take a nap in your lawn chair.
Buy T-Roy’s CD’s or a Pickin’ In The Pines T-shirt while he’s around to autograph them for you!
Write a song
Night:
Grab your lawn chair and/or cooler and move them to your favorite spot near the beautiful stage area.
Kick back and get ready to be entertained by the best musicians Texas has to offer.
Move lawn chair/cooler to a late night campfire jam going on after the concert and kick back again or grab your instrument and kick in with them!
Fall asleep listening to the coyotes or other country music.
