Juneteenth Parade

Postby Todah Tear » Fri Jun 11, 2010 10:17 pm

I realize it is short notice, but would anyone in East Texas/Louisiana-Texas boarder area be interested in participating in a Juneteeth Parade in Longview, Texas on Saturday, June 19th, at 9:00 am. It's my hometown ...and my mom twisted my arm, so I'll be towing Todah and possiblly throwing some candy (Maybe, I can get my sister to assist with the candy throwing. :) )

Folks in Longview might get a kick out of seeing some tears. Usually, the club that refurbishes trucks from the 50's is the big deal of the parade. If you are interested, let me know.

Well the Juneteenth Parade was blast and a great day of liberation! I especially got a kick out of the expressions on people's faces when they saw Todah 1. It was, "What the heck is that! I'm intrigued!"

I handed out some cards with the forum's web address on it. Maybe we'll have some new recruits!

Just in case you are not familiar with Juneteenth, here's a link: http://www.juneteenth.com/. People of all races were represented this weekend though.

Here are a few pics from the bit that I could see. I was in the line-up for the parade, so I got to see what passed by me as we were being put in order. There are more pics in my album. This blue car was my fab favorite.

Sorry I missed the first post Todah. Juneteenth has always struck me as the best idea for a holiday. One with something truly important to celebrate. Allow me to wish you, and all a belated Happy Juneteenth.

Thanks Greg. I can truly say that it was a joyful celebration of liberation, no hate. Amongst many things, Juneteenth celebrates the fact that circumstances can get change...for the better. No matter what bad condition a person might may find himself/herself in, if they keep hoping and praying for the best, things can and will change!
