Lake Bisteneau on fire

Postby McTeardrops » Tue Sep 28, 2010 9:37 pm

Chicago may have burnt a river, but it takes the South Central to burn a lake...

DAYUM...flood last year and fire this...I wonder if the fates are trying to tell us something...I guess I need to call Ranger David tomorrow and see what shape the park is in...FYI, the area on fire is a bit to the south of the park.........

...a foot or so of dead Salvinia, cypress leaves. pine straw and other hardwood leaves/debris...it is burning kinda like a bog fire...cause it is a bog...cause the water has been off the lake bed since the floods last year and has had very little rain since August...damitman...........

Lake Bisteneau on Fire

Postby queeniejeanne » Wed Sep 29, 2010 9:08 am

Well, at least we have time, Dave and MJ can handle this. They've handled worse....

burning for months, the video doesn't sound like it will be out in 4 weeks. Smoldering Bog, What a wonderful spell the neighbors have, ehh? I really wonder if it's ever gonna be Louisiana's turn "out of the barrel"? I hope it comes soon for them.

Sounds like the muck fires that we'd have in FL. They'd burn for weeks and are really hard to put out.

Doesn't seem like a problem to me--I know how I like to put out a campfire after I have been sitting around drinking beer all day . . . :)

And with this group, we should have this blaze quenched in an afternoon!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

Just when you think a problem is solved, an uglier result replaces it.

It seems to be a few miles South of the Park. Maybe we'll get lucky. And, there's bound to be a couple of rainy days before the end of the month. :worship:
