Let's do a gun gathering, Bring your guns and lets go camping!.. YEAH, yeah I know a lot of you bring guns camping with you already. BUT, This time bring lots of AMMO cause were not only going to bring the guns, were going to use them. :)

Anna and I went camping at a little campground this past year at Bodcau WMA near Shreveport, La. and I fell in love with the place. It's not a very big campground having only 20 improved sites. It has a bath house, a playground area, access to a spill way for fishing. ( and I hear the cat-fishing is really good at times) The WMA has a lot of things to offer for fun like ATV trails and lakes for fishing, But My favorite attraction has to be the FREE outdoor covered gun range thats open to the public on weekends. The campground is operated by the army corp and is a first come first serve Honor box type place. The draw back to this is no reservations can be made ahead of time. So I spoke to the Manager of the Camp area about peak use times and he said if were planning a trip we should do it after hunting season before it starts to warm up to much. Because thats the camps slowest times of the year. The camp ground also has a Big primitive camping area just incase someone cant get a spot or we fill up the place. I'll speak to the guy again about doubling up if we get more than just a few people interested.

Archery for deer is from Oct. 1-Jan. 31 then Beavers bend is in March

SO, I'm thinking maybe a winter gathering around the middle of February 17, 18 & 19th.

Okay then, how y'all feel about February 17,18 and 19th? I know that's still pretty cool but, to tell you the truth I like camping in cold weather. I love cooking a gumbo in the DO hanging from a tripod over an open fire in cold temps.

Feb average temps here range from 40.3°F to 62.0°F

That's not saying it could not be -10 though.

Eddie, a couple of questions...you say "improved" sites, does that mean electric and water at sites...targets, I assume we provide our own... www.targetz.com has lots of print 'em yourself targets...have you ever tried shooting paintballs off of golf tees??? how about DumDum suckers...what types of targets will the range allow????.I'll be bringin' my two Henrys, a 22 and 22mag with a few thousand rounds of ammo...cheap shootin' fun...anyone have a HEAVY steel gong to set out at the 200yd berm????

MJ the range furnished targets, staple gun and a board to place them on when I was there last. I will probably bring some hi visual targets anyway though to staple on the furnished board myself. The range has shooting lanes with PVC pipe in the ground ever so many feet that will hold your targets up. It even had a gong down at the 200 yard mark already. I'm not sure what kinda rules they have for personal target types. But a person could prolly call that range phone number on a weekend and speak to the range master.

As for the sites their really nice cemented pads, water, power and picnic tables. The campground is piney woods type topography.

Hey all ... Kenny is pumped for this . Says "He'll yeah! We gotta make this one"

But says we're definitely taking his truck and not my Honda ... does that tell you how many guns and ammo he has ???

Jewel

Is there a limit on caliber on the handgun range?? None of the indoor ranges around here allow over .45 and finding someplace out of doors safe is almost impossible. I would like to put some (lots of) rounds through my Desert Eagle if it's allowed.

I have a thousand rounds or more for the Glock, so sharing is not a problem.

Other wise, the dates are on the calendar. :D
