Gunslinger Gathering Friday and Saterday night meals

Postby Eddielbs » Mon Jan 02, 2012 12:33 pm

I'm thinking about putting on a big pot of veggie beef soup for everyone who will be in friday night... That should be a good warming hardy food just incase winter doesn't bypass the state of Louisiana completely. As so many weather people are predecting it is.

That being said I'm going to post up some ingredients here kinda like MJ does for the LCG events, and if you want to help out by bringing something just post what it is you will be bringing, and i'll update the list with your name...

Still Needed:

Nothing

Who's Bringing what:
I'll have the pot, the cooker, and i'll supply the seasoning. :)
Nobody ( Deer, Veggies)
planovet (Veggies)
Pam and Bob Bertrand (Onion, celery, and Cabbage)
Eddielbs (Everything left)

By no means is the pot only going to be limited to people who bring food. Everyone is welcome to eat. :) That being said Please try to have the ingrediant your going to bring to me by 2 PM friday evening. Thanks Eddie

I'm gonna go ahead & say we'll make this trip (unless there's a couple of inches of ice on roads or the temps are in the 20's or lower). I have at least 5# of boneless venison Eddie, & can probably 'front' a bag or two of mixed veggies. Oh yeah, we'll probably get there on Thursday PM 'less the c/g is closed for some reason or other??

I don't foresee it being closed at all next month. But that being said i'm going to contact the Army corp in a few days jus to make sure. The earlier you arrive in the week the better due to the first come first serve policy of the camp ground. I'll be setting up on Thursday sometime also probably. I was hoping someone would pony up some deer meat. I have not hunt in years and really miss being able to cook with venison :) Thanks

We can bring the mixed veggies. We probably won't be able to get there until around dark on Friday.

I was wondering why the water balloon was getting bigger... and then it hit me.

I just got the signed permit back from the army corp for the use of the group pavilion on Saturday. I'm now super excited and cant wait to do some campfire sitting, Good food eating and gun shooting.. :)

It doesn't look like we will need as big a pot as I first figured.. So with what we already have volunteered. I should be able to cover the rest of the ingredients needed to fill our guts Friday night. :)

I guess if were going to have a pot luck type of meal on Saturday. We should post up our planned dishes here too so that others can decide what food type maybe lacking..

Anna and myself will bring a king cake and some type of protein for Saturday.

I found a small boneless venison 'ham' in the freezer. If I can load my smoker I'll probably cook that for Sat. If not, a couple of small pork tenderloins on the grill & maybe some pinto beans'n ham hocks.

We are looking forward to this trip. I am not sure yet what I will be cooking for the Pot Luck. Thanks Eddie for thinking to get that permit. A shelter for the Pot Luck is a good idea since we never know when it is going to rain.

Sure I'll have a big pot to boil some water in. We will get some cheese and chopped ham too.
