HEADS UP!! DATE CHANGE!!

Greg attempted to book the train for Saturday the 26th and was not able to. I called the park and it appears that the weekend before is the very last weekend of the season for the regular excursions. (They do have one train departing that Saturday but it is a special excursion called the "Pints in the Pines" where you sample a bunch of different ales during the trip but it is substantially more expensive at $75 instead of the usual $32).

So it appears that we will need to all back up our reservations one week to Sept 18-19th so we can ride the train. The person I spoke to said that the campground is wide open for that weekend and if you also reserve the train ride when you make/revise your camping reservation they will give you a discount also. (Get the Piney Woods Excursion Round trip departing from Rusk 11am on Saturday).

Let's get to switchin! Here's the park number 903-683-2561

Awesome Danny.

Dan (Professor.smith) spoke with the guys at the reservation office and when you're moving your reservation, if you mention confirmation # 48993 along with being with the South Central Teardrop group, this will help them place us in sites 5-15. Since most of us are arriving Thursday we shouldn't have any problem getting together but this will certainly help!

Well we have our reservations for the 18th and 19th including the train ride tickets. . Woo-hoo let's camp :D :D one last thing they don't want you to wear open toed shoes, sandals, or flip flops on the train just in case you have to hike through the woods. ..

OK, got 'er done. I'm going to arrive Thursday PM, ride the steam engine from Palestine on Friday, and ride with y'all on Saturday in the open air car.

While talking to the nice lady, she said she didn't see any train reservations for our group on Saturday. Get 'em while they're hot. If you made train resers already, better call & make sure.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Louisa and I have rescheduled for the weekend of the 17th to the 20th.
We also made our reservations to take the train from Rusk on Saturday. :awesome:
It appears that the engine they'll be using is a diesel engine and not a steam engine.
They recommend that you pack a lunch when we go on Saturday.
Hope to see you all there and everybody make it . :applause:
We are very excited about coming down. :pinktear:

Have to do group photo on the train!

I just made my change and made sure to add South Central Teardrop group to the note. The confirmation # didn't seem to any difference with the person I spoke with.

Don't ask me what happened but they had TWO sites reserved for me for Fri and Sat so they had charged me for four days. When I changed my reservation, I added Thursday and the train ride so I didn't thave to pay anything extra because they already had double chaged me LOL... seems like a different story for each person that calls, at least I am good now.
