Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Since it is scheduled to rain every day for the next week and it is a long holiday weekend, AND the weather really cooled off alot! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on places to camp within 3 hours for Dallas that was NOT in the rain path? I was thinking everything South and East of Dallas is in the path, but not sure how far North or West it is going and that might be a good place to camp. I just think why stick around the house when I can't do anything because it is soaked outside, so I wanna book it out of town!! Maybe Hugo or a little farther North and West? I am thinking that it's going to be Oklahoma either way....any ideas?

Still a higher than normal chance here in West Texas. I am thinking about heading into southeast New Mexico. Maybe Roswell Then down to Whites City campground at Carlsbad Caverns. No rain forecast there. A bit farther than three hours for you tho. Ronnie

Thanks Ronnie! I know due North of here even just within four hours of me there has got to be 15 state parks and with the weather I bet they wont be sold out for the holiday! Time to do some more searching!

Just scrolling through the Oklahoma state Parks status page and this caught my eye:

Closures at Beavers Bend & Hochatown State Park
May 21, 2015: Beavers Bend State Park is normal and will be fully operational this weekend. At this time all boat ramps located in the park are closed and most of primitive campsites are under water. In the Hochatown area, Cedar Creek golf course has been closed and all campgrounds along Broken Bow Lake have been closed. The marina remains closed due to the high water levels.Broken Bow Lake is currently about 23 feet above normal and there is no boating access anywhere along the lake.

Partial Closures at McGee Creek State Park
May 21, 2015: The Buster Height RV campground at McGee Creek State Park is without power; however, 18 of those sites are usable for those campers who wish to camp with water hookups only. Eight sites at the Potapo area are open and six sites have no power. The majority of tent sites are open. All boat ramp parking lots are under water and the boat ramps are now closed until further notice. The lake is 21 feet above normal.

Change of plans here. Headed to Ute Lake State Park New Mexico today after work. Then up to a friends ranch at Roy NM to do some flying. He is 90 something years old and can not fly any more, so I go up there every once in a while and do some maintenance on the plane, and take him flying around the ranch. It is out in the middle of no where and his hanger is a very quiet and peaceful place to park and get some good sleep. Then maybe on to Conchas Lake State Park. Never been there. ronnie

Yep really quiet out there. Spent 4 hours fllying around the middle of New Mexico Sunday. I take off and land and he flys around while I watch for windmills, tall cows, and such. Not many trees out there.
