...as any ol'timer around here knows, I have done a campout for my birthday...this year, my birthday is Fri the 27th of Oct...Halloween...the campout could be that weekend, the weekend before, or the weekend following...in fact, I might be out camping that whole time (or longer)...campground options are Beaver Dan USFS CG just north of Minden La, about as far as Bistineau is from DFW area....other options would be at Moro Bay SP east of El Dorado Ar and have thought of Caddo Lake SP or Daingerfield SP, both in NE Tex......

I know time is short on this but let me know if anyone has preferences.................

p.s. I also talked about Chicot SP, about 30mi south of Alexandria La...this is the oldest and largest SP in the La SP system...would be a site for (maybe) some warmer winter camping...this park would be about 350 mi from Mesquite Tx...it is fairly open, large and would make a great gathering site (North Point Section)...the bath house and dump stations are only a couple of years old...the lake is one of those sunken cypress lake with actual water it...it does have grass in it but of a diff kind in Bisteneau and has boat rentals...really nice park...keep it in mind..........mj

MJ I am camping the weekend of your birthday (the usual deal) and I am camping two weeks before (the 13th) in San Marcos with the TX Vintage Trailer club so the week after your birthday would work for me not like I am Mr super hero or anything, I would like like to take a trip to see you guys. I would even roll it on down to Chicot SP too since it is your birthday by gosh!!!

"Camping on my BD". What an interesting bucket list idea for me since mine is January 3. It would have to be by myself as my wife would never go for the cold and it can get cold and snowy here in the mountains of SW VA. I hope you enjoy yours.

Jeff, send me a ph # by pm...have talked with Gary & Jim...we are thinking about coming to see you and Mikki...Fri the 27th is my birthday so we would probably be up on the previous Wed of Thur...Marlene and I will probably go on to BeaverDam at Minden the following weekend...send me a #!!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas, we will be at Beaver Dam CG, a really nice USFS CG about 5mi north of Minden La (which is just north of Bistineau)...you can reserve half of the 28 sites and the others are FCFS for the first weekend of Nov starting on the 1rst (a Wed...I think)...if anyone can make it, I would love to see ya!!!!!!!!!

That is awesome! I am going to plan on being there at lease at Beaver Dam! I shared this to the South Central Tears page on FB too.

If I didn't have three damn cats (or if I can get something squared away), It would be cool to leave our Halloween event Sunday and head to Moro bay M-W then caravan to Beaver Dam, we'll see!! Everyone else can do it why not me!!

Thomas, I am not making reservations at either campground...Jim/Gary and Marlene and I are going to Moro to visit with Jeff/Mikki. That is BD weekend and I figure most will be doin halloween stuff...the following weekend at Beaver Dam...they have 28 sites, 14 are reservable and 14 are walkups...the website shows only 2 sites reserved for that weekend, so, once again, I will take my chances...if I can snag it, I will be in site 12, a walk up site...if not then wherever I can get...all sites upto 22 have a lake view and their bathrooms/showers are between 14-15 and up by 22..........

Thomas, I have 2 cats, indoor and outdoor, and when we go camping, I lock them in the house with lots of food and water, leave water in the bathroom sink and mine are just fine. Litter box of course.

I posted on the FB page, but for those not on there, if you're coming to Moro Bay, get your reservations soon. We reopened the campground Labor Day weekend and have been full every weekend since. I think we're shooting for sites 15-17, these are water front sites. Sites 21-23 are across the road. Avoid 1-3 and 11-13 unless you want full sun. See y'all soon!

Marlene and I have site 17...my buddy Gary has site 16......get 'em while they're hot...we will continue on to Beaver Dam for following weekend and since only 2 sites are shown as reserved(according to website) and 14 are FCFS, we will not worry about reservations..........

Yeah mine are 100% outdoor and the momma was completely feral when they showed up, I let them in the screened in porch a couple of times and they tore it up trying to get out, I'd be afraid of what they would do to the inside of my place.
