I do hear you about not spending enough time in a location and missing points of most beauty. I have a time cushion built it to my travel route and I do this just so we can extend a bit in a place that touches us. I was factoring our drive time/distance coming out of Pharr, TX and wished to stay and see the Marfa Lights. That brought in the opportunity of at least driving down by Big Bend NP and routing through there. It looks interesting!
