Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I need to get my aluminum and start skinning the teardrop. I'm hoping that someone in the DFW area knows of a good local source to get the aluminum and the trim. Thanks.

Sorry Ron, I can't be of much help, I am not using the sheet aluminum. I would think there has got a be a tractor-trailer repair place around here.

I noticed in your album the picture titled "fender fight", I just purchased some of the same fenders and wondering how to mount them. How did you mount yours?

Just do a google search for sheet metal in the fort worth area, there are tons of them im sure. When i lived in Dallas, Trident was my main supplier for most metal goods, and Kofal for some sheet metal stuff.

I went to Trident and they didn't have anything bigger than 4X10 sheets.

I contacted Trident in Dallas today, they told me they didn't have any 4x8 sheets in stock But what they did have was .040 4x12 sheets for $61.86 each. They also said they had alum. angle, 1/2 in. .062 for $3.50 per 16ft.
Just for giggles I called their El Paso office to see what they had. They had 4x10 .032 for $40.00 each and no other sheets in stock.
I've got lots of other places to contact yet so I'll try and keep you all posted,Thanks.

I got mine from http://www.saf.com/ If you order over 200 lbs shipping is free. I got all of my aluminum from them. I ordered my sheet anodized. They shipped all of the extrusions 16'. The service was great. I ordered it on Thursday, It was delivered the following Tuesday.

I bought all my, metal both aluminum (except for the 102in wide roof skin)and steel from Westbrook Metals. I just checked the website and they have a place in Dallas. They also sell by the foot but at a premium. I needed 10ft of T-moulding, I asked them how much the whole stick was and it was only a couple bucks more. I ended up getting the whole stick. They will also cut them down for you if you need it.

Ron, Sorry for the delay in responding. I used T-nuts on the inside, drill the hole through the wall, install the T-nuts, then install the inner skin.

Thanks for the response. I've been trying to figure out how to use the existing bracket from the original fenders.
I'm out in El Paso right now getting ready to put the aluminum skin on the tear. I found some aluminum out here at Trident. .032 4x10 sheets for $41.00 each. I pick them up today. If I can get it skinned by the weekend we will be going on our maiden voyage camping trip.

FYI If anyone does a search and comes up with this thread like I did, Westbrook Metals says they did not carry T Moulding or counter edge anymore (galley wall cap/door jamb). Just said he has angle and that was it.

I bought mine from Regal Plastics. You might also check other Sign supply vendors.
