Lava Roads (Mordor 8.0)

June 9-11, 2023
Time: 7:30am Boise, 10:30am Shoshone
Meet Place: Boise, Mr Gas Travel Center 10026 S Eisenman Rd, Boise, ID 83716. - Shoshone: Mary L Gooding Memorial Park 512 N Rail St W, Shoshone, ID 83352. Cream Can Junction route description below
Destination: South Central Idaho Desert
Estimated Duration: 3 days
Estimated Distance: 93 miles Shoshone to Camp Spot
Comms Channels: GRMS=17, CB=13

This trip (Lava Roads) was originally planned as fun way to get to the anticipated Mordor 8.0 trip this year. When reaching out with last year's Mordor trip planner to find out dates, I was informed it would be better for me to plan the Mordor trip this year. So, since I already had a plan, I just added on to the trip some more.

The first part of the trip (Lava Roads June 9) will start in Shoshone Idaho and head out north where we will find lava roads. This part of the trip would not be recommended for low clearance vehicles and non-off roadable trailers. Good tires would probably be a plus for this section as well.

After the Lava Roads we will head to Cream Can Junction for the camp out (Mordor 8.0).

Those that can't make the Lava Roads section can meet us at Cream Can Junction. How to get there: go east of Minidoka about two miles and turn north on the Arco-Minidoka Road. About 20 miles north is Cream Can Junction. Turn west at Cream Can Junction and about 1/4-1/2 mile you should see us camped at a small hill on the south side of the road. The road to Cream Can Junction is a wide gravel road suitable for pretty much any car and trailer.

This is not a guided tour and all who attend are ultimately responsible for their own safety. I am not responsible for damage, injury and or death. You partake under your own free will knowing the dangers of such activities.

George,

I'm going to try to make it for this trip.
Most likely won't know till Thursday afternoon for sure.
Work is crazy busy and will be the rest of the year, but it pays the bills.
