Mordor v3.1 September 13-16

Postby Wolffarmer » Mon Jun 19, 2017 11:29 pm

I am officially crazy. How about another one? June 8-9-10th 2018. This time planning on setting up camp in the Kings Bowl area then people can do their own thing. Dirty roads abound, exploring places. ( some we missed when I got kind of lost Saturday ) and have a base camp to return to. Hike the Wood Road Kipuka, Kings Bowl, Rift Cracks galore, Baker Indian Caves. I would have to leed that one or you might never find it. Only a bit better chance with me guiding. Hike back to Pillar Butte.

Anyone game?

Randy

Sounds good to me. I know that we only scratched the surface of what was to be seen out there this last week. If these days are set I can cross post to the other forum if you would like me to.

This is a week before father's day. Sorry about holding this year's on Father's Day. Just something I am not concerned with. I did not realize it until I stopped in Blackfoot to visit an old friend.

If we have a set camp people can still get up to the lava road and back in a day and not need to set up camp.

Should I extend it to three nights?

I think 3 nights would probably work better. That way there would two full days of travel, otherwise it would only be one depending on when people showed up.

Okay four days and 3 nights. I plan to do a lot of sleeping anyway.

I hope the road from the end of the county road is in better condition next year. Then more people can bring their trailers. At least the distance on poor roads will be much less.

Hey George, and everyone else. I been a bit remiss on keeping information flowing.

I am still planning to base camp. I think I will get out to where I plan to set up camp this weekend and see how the conditions of the road is. And make a few notes on directions. It should be near the old Crystal Ice Caves. Close to the Great Rift/Kings Bowl.
