Leslie Gulch Anyone?

Postby robfisher » Fri Feb 28, 2020 10:37 pm

Next weekend is lookin' like a mighty fine chance to get outside for a night or two under the stars.
Anyone want to meet at the Leslie Gulch campground Friday or Saturday?
Looks like maybe mid 50's daytime highs, low winds and low 30's at night for perfect winter camping.
What do ya think?

What activities are planned?

Potlucks?

Raffles?

Prizes for furthest travel?

Light ups?

Just kidding. Like my events. Show up and have a good time. That is all. And I have a secret to tell. Maybe.

Rob,

7 hours plus drive one way is just too far, even tho I could really use a camping trip about now.

Work/life balance needs some work.................

Post some :pictures: and have a cold  for me. :)

I could go for something closer also.

Three Island crossing?

Lake Walcott. Not fair. only 10 miles from me

Pipeline BLM camp ground at American falls. Kind of far for the western Idahoans. At least it is free.

Locomotive springs again. Really far for the Westerns

You're going the wrong way, if we move we want to go North, not East

Rob,

Due to stuff at work, not sure if I could make Friday.
I can make Saturday if the drive is say under 5 hours. That would put me in camp by noon.

Glenns Ferry? or one of Randy's suggestions............

I just thought of another place. And as I usually do there is no facilities at all.

It is four miles east of the little Idaho town of Richfield on the high way to Craters of the Moon. Heading east out of Righfield four miles from the LDS church and cemetery you turn right and in a very little bit cross abandoned rail road and then cross a river on a single lane bridge. We can camp right there or go a little further and camp. The bridge/road has a name but I can not remember it. Not hard to find. Only problem would be if it rains.

Crater of the Moon headquarters is not far away, Or take the drive from Cary to the west along Silver Creek and hob nob with the rich and infamous of Sun Valley.

I have been thinking of this place for a kick off for Mordor 2021

Is it Jim Brown Bridge Rd ?

So far it sounds like 3 rigs?
I'm fine for either location since it is about same time and distance for me.
Weather forecast says cloudy with a slight chance of rain for Saturday.

I'm going to go ahead with the Leslie Gulch plans for this one. It's only Tuesday and this week is already presenting me with more work than I expected. It just doesn't make a lot of sense for me to flap on over to the other side of the jungle. I'm excited that I got people thinking about getting out. I have talked with several others who say they will join me on this side of the state.. So it's all good.

You guys have fun. I'll miss you but will catch you next time.
