Here

Mud?

We got .83" of rain in Salmon over the last two days. And a good bit of snow this morning.

Not any mud that I saw. We had a blizzard coming down through Ennis and Island Park. This was the ice left on my trailer after half an hour or more of driving once we got into rain and clear roads. It took so long to get here we had to just stop and camp on the side of the road in a hail/lightning storm at midnight last night. Things seem dry now, just energetically breezy.Image

Home safe, almost defrosted. I still had ice in my cooler that was packed 6 days ago. Pictures might be a while but are coming...

Here are some more pictures .....

Thursday late afternoon as I got close the Cream Can Junction, a critter ran across the road about 50 yards ahead of me. Did not recognize the body shape. As I slowed down to make the turn, saw him/her out of the corner of my eye. stopped to take a few :pictures:

Friday we drove over the revisited Split Butte Crater

So last time we were at Split Butte crater, we noticed a lone tree maybe a mile south of us.
This time we started driving in the direction to see if we could get close.
Turns out one of the trails goes right by the tree. Pretty sure its a Cedar.
But the real question is how did it get here.
You can scan the hole horizon in any direction and you will see nothing but sage brush and grass.

Wanted to post one last picture from the weekend.
Craters of the Moon is a very big place with lots of dirt roads in various conditions.
I dent to spend sometime in the early mornings stretching my legs and exploring the trails close by and I always seem to find some trash.
For some reason most of the empty beer cans are Bud Light.
Also found several underbody protection panels. Audi, Nissan are the ones I could identify.

So I came home with some extra stuff to throw in the trash or recycling bin.

Thought I would post this here since I am not sure how much exposure this is getting in the general forum. This post should notify most people interested in these trips.

Sorry to report our Mordor Leader has passed. More information in the link.
