My Mendo Favorites...

Postby Dean in Eureka, CA » Sun Jul 22, 2007 9:37 pm

Just got in from Mendocino...
It was great to hang with the Teardrop Family again... seeing friends I haven't seen in over a year and meeting friends I've known from this forum that I hadn't met in person yet.

It was great meeting Dennis and getting to spend some time with him... He certainly enjoys the good things in life and likes to share.

Meeting Steve and actually putting a voice to the words was rather surprising to me... Didn't get a chance to ask him where or what accent that is... And yes, he talks as well as he writes.

I'll tell yaa... My heart really soared finally getting to meet Ron, especially after what he's recently been through... Wish I could've spent more time with him and his wife... Super Nice Folks!!!

Spent a lot of time tending to the cast iron... Got my butt kicked bigtime by Doug in an inprompt Waffle Competition... In fact, everything Doug did in his cast iron was absolutely awesome!!!

Didn't get to spend a lot of time taking pictures, but here's a few I did manage to snap...

Thanks Dean...but in all honestly, nothing touches the prime rib and Hawaiian bread you did. I was operating on borrowed iron, thanks Kevin, that you seasoned and Joanie made up the batter...my waffle iron was waiting for me when I got home however. We'll see how I fare in the next "great waffle shoot out" Doug

It was a great weekend, the weather could not have been much better, meeting everyone was wonderful and the there is no adequate description of the food. Outstanding, especially that prime rib.

Thanks to Lee for pulling this off, 30 plus teardrops overlooking the ocean, my pictures did not do it justice but there will some that do.

But there is one more homage to Dean, Kevin and Doug that appeared in today's paper.

Thanks to everyone for a most excellent weekend and sharing some good beer too boot.

Dan,
bg's site is down...
I hope he gets it straightened out, 'cause Nanny's Niche' and the Pamplin Grove site are down as well.

Norma, The Girls and I just finished unpacking...well Norma and I did.
The Girls were so happy to be home they "ran like the wind" all over their yard and house.
We had a great time at the Gathering and on the trip.
