Martha, you're the first confirmed SLO Gathering III camper! Sounds like you'll be ready for a little relaxing vacation time after your busy family activities. It'll be a pleasure to see you and David again.

Thanks for pointing out the right starting date. :? Corrected. :)

To make the roster more visible I moved it up to the first posting on page 1.

:) Bob "Midget" from Squaw Valley, CA (near Fresno) reserved Beaver #12. Pleased to have you join us, Bob. :applause:

Is there anyone else who's reserved a camp site for the gathering? Don't keep it a secret. Please post a message with your name and the camp site number you reserved. It's fun for us all to know who's coming and to see the roster grow.

My wife and I will be up there with the Lil' Bear on Friday night (maybe Thursday) and plan on driving back home on Sunday. Look forward to seeing you all there!

Thangs have changed at work and getting time off is more difficult. I asked for it off but will not be reserving until I see it on the Schedual.

Do what i can to help. Let me know.

We must work for the same company, Ron. We just had our days off taken away from us today. I am waiting to see if they approve my vacation request for the weekend...livin' the dream!

So, in looking at the campground pics from thier webs site, can you drive/back into the campgrounds? Some of them look like there is a bit of a slope to get into. Or are these tent sites? I did like the pics of last years camp. Looks fun!
I cut it three times and it's still too short!!

:) Sunny, hope you can come and camp with us again. Yes, you can drive/back into the campsites. A fun time camping together is what our gathering is all about.

:) Ron Dickey and darhymes, hope you each are able to get time off from work to come to the SLO Gathering.

The Beaver campsites are usually used as tent, or tent camper, sites. It's a peaceful area well away from most large RVs. All the Beaver campsites have plenty of room to park a car or truck and a small trailer. Usually there's little up or down slope you'll drive or back up to cross between the paved road and the level camping area. Sites 10, 11 & 13 are lower than the paved road and will require backing a trailer down to the level camping area. #10 is around the bend of a little hill, it's pretty private, well shaded, with a nice view of the lake. Campsite #9 is a smaller site than most that's close to the road with a panoramic view of the lake. My best advice it to look at the map, photos and campsite descriptions (shade is nice to have) on the campground website to help you choose the campsite(s) you prefer. Don't think there are any clunkers.

I would not recommend site #7.
Sometimes some of the pictures and descriptions are deceiving on the site. When we checked in last year we were told it was a very uneven site and did we really want it. In the end we were fortunate we could change sites. I wouldn't have guessed it from the pictures or description. The description says it is for a 10 RV and has PM shade. Neither are true. I think they must be referring to another site. It has morning shade and figuring out how to park our 4'x8' teardrop was a great challenge. It was the no afternoon shade that was the final straw for me.

Also all the pictures show green grass so they had to be taken in the spring, because in Sept. it is no longer green.
But all in all it is a great campground and everyone seemed to have lots of fun and we will be back again this year.
Martha ;)

Happy Mothers Day updates

Postby Esteban » Mon May 11, 2009 12:04 am

Happy Mothers Day to all the teardropping moms or moms of teardroppers!

Martha, Thanks for offering a tip on a less than desirable campsite.

The Pismo Beach Vintage Trailer Rally is coming up next weekend. I went by to visit it Saturday last year. There was so much to see and so many people to meet, or see again, that one afternoon was much too short. Fun, fun, fun. This year I plan to come by for a longer day or maybe on a couple of days. Hope to see some SLO Gathering friends again. Will spread the word about the SLO Gathering too.

Grant's "Destinations" is read by teardroppers far and wide so I emailed him with SLO Gathering information. Wonder how many Dam(p) Gathering attendees we can entice to come camp with us?

James from Santa Maria, CA just got a good deal on a Camp Chef Camp Oven from Costco. At least four Central Coast Teardroppers will have ovens in our trailers. Maybe we'll expand the Waffle Off with a Bake Off too. Got to give dutch oven folks some competition for the pot luck. The Beaver campsites each have electricity. Maybe some microwaves, coffee pots, or blenders will see some action?

Ron Dickey is going to come by this week so we can test fit the walls on my teardrop and make any adjustments before gluing them to the floor. Wonder what Dam Gathering stories he'll have to share?
