Hunting season

Postby danlott » Sat Jun 27, 2009 8:22 pm

Just wanting to let everyone know that it will be hunting season when this gathering takes place. Might be a little competition for camping sites. Don't think it will be crowded though since it will be muzzleloader mule deer.

Hey Doug, isn't that BLM land around there, can we not dispersal camp?? We have so much BLM land in the Great Basin, We very seldom go to campgrounds. Just wondering. Ole' Randy must have felt out of place going to a real campground... Jim G

I'd imagine we can, but the thing is, in the valleys it's so desolate out there. No trees just sage and dirt. I don't mind it, have done it plenty of times. We could also go over to the hot springs and camp. There was some guy, and I'd say stuck somewhere in the early 70's, living in his VW when we were there. Might be a good exercise to go find some other options when we are there. I"m thinking, that there were a couple of really nice areas, undeveloped down the Smokey Valley towards Round Mt., you know, open up a fence and drive in type of thing towards the Mt range....and there was good water in the creeks. I just need to dig out some old 7.5min. quad sheets to find them. Doug

Out of place, well maybe but these days do appreciate a good outhouse.

I went up the road that takes off on the east side of the road going to campground. Theres a few places up there. one just on the outside of the fence where people have camped in the past. I do not know if it is BLM or private ground.

Just me, Cathy is flying into Jackson Hole on Saturday and that's why I have to leave the Glyphs early. So Ken, we can open the place up!
