Al and Karen will be there on Friday, hopefully, right about lunch time. 8)
Well dog gone it, if someone from Riverside can make it, so can we! (Cathy and I grew up in Riverside, but we'll not admit how many years ago that was). We'll be spending Thursday night somewheres on Hwy 395, hopefully as far as Lone Pine. See you all Friday about 2:pm.
John B.
I'd rather be camping.

The good news is, I'm still alive ... ... the bad news is, I'm still alive ... ...! The worst news is, the chances of me being at my own campout are looking pretty damned dim ... ...!

Since I couldn't see the Neurosurgeon on Thursday like originally planned (because of a bad case of the flu ... can't remember the last time I was that sick!), my new appointment is late Wednesday afternoon, and that's when I get to hear the bad news about my MRI and the rest of the details about the nerve mapping they did a couple of weeks ago. Depending on how fast this Dr. gets his notes in order and to my GP, I'll be seeking authorization for a second opinion from the Spine Clinic in Daily City (CA), ASAP, so I might be pretty tied up ...

Don't count me completely out! I may just end up pulling a Hoodini and getting the hell outta Dodge just so I don't kill someone ... :x ...! If by chance I don't make it, you All have fun! ... take lots of pics (if only to make me feel worse when you show 'em to me at the Dam Gathering ...) ... and enjoy the hell outta that place! It ain't for everybody, but from the sounds of it, those who are making the trek will be very appreciative of the specialness and mystique of the place ... and, the Spirits will smile down upon you ... :) ...!

Trying to remain CHEERS!-full ...

Grant,

Sorry to hear about your continuing back problems. They are never fun and it sounds like yours are especially bad. I hope that the doctors can help relieve the pain and suffering.

Get well!! I'll send some prayers your way.

Well gang,

Grant, sorry to hear about the continuing frustration. We'll keep or fingers crossed and keep good thoughts for you. I ended up deciding to wait on the shoulder surgery until possibly late fall. Now we'll see if I can deal with the pain until then.

It looks as though I will not be making the trip as well. Forecast calls for rain/snow for my intended route, coming and going. Go figure.

So rather than play wet driver, I have decided to stay home and work on my newest aquisition. A 1954 Boles Areo 16' Mira Mar travel trailer. If the weather gods cooperate [and maybe even if they don't!] I may try to hide out locally somewhere here in the Royal Gorge region of Colorado.

I will be with you all in spirit both at the Glyphs and The Dam Gathering. Hopefully, I'll see some of you at ITG3 in Minden this June 18th - 21st.

Take care and happy trails,
George T.

I loaded up some more firewood today....raining here right now...but it's supposed to blow out of here...it's not a real cold front...some cars came past with snow on them tonight probably from Tahoe, but the heavy stuff is over and is just sort of drizzling. I live at 4K feet, western Sierras. It's not going to be a shorts and T shirt gathering, but that's the high desert in early April. If I don't need chains...I'm in...I'm bringing shorts for the hot springs however. For anyone coming...remember...there isn't water available at the campground, but look at it this way...won't need a lot of ice huh? The local weather for Austin seems to indicate cool crisp days and some precip. at night. Another thing to consider, is that Austin is on the eastern side of a range and we are going to be over that range and in the next basin. Yeah...like that is going to sway some people.....  Doug

I'm not sure how the sites lay out and where we can get trailers in, but we could bunch up with a couple in some sites to share fires and coverings. I"m thinking I'll get one that has some trees to tie a big tarp to...don't know if I'll bring the ez up. Doug

I will load up a few extra concrete stakes for tying awnings down just incase someone can use them, & I'll throw an extra tarp in just in case I'm unable to put up my easyup up.

I hope to be there before noon.
If I get there before you do I'll try to save a few sites side by side by putting some coolers & chairs in them so that we all can be real close to each other.
( there should be no problem getting plenty of spots)
But it is Easter weekend.

I do not think that I have ever been to this campground!

Sadly, I will not be there. We are still waiting for that grandchild to pop out. But I will be thinking of you guys , this was one I really wanted to attend. I don't mind bad weather camping. It just creates more adventure.

I hope you all have a great time and take pictures.

we're still coming

Postby nevadatear » Wed Apr 08, 2009 8:45 am

Randy and I will still be there, probably around 4 Friday night. We are only 3 hours away and get off work @ 1 . One thing for sure is if it rains or winds much it will make us want to finish our trailer even faster! Little rain doesn't scare us, but then again , we are only 3 hours away. We can always go home. Want to camp in our back yard? Or better yet, in the huge warehouse we are lucky enough to be building our trailer in? Maybe ya'll should just come to our house and help us finish our trailer! For you westerners, we're only and hour from Fallon.

Look forward to meeting all of you, boy do I need a vacation!
