SPACE NO. 23 RESERVED AT BEAVER CAMPSITE AT LOPEZ LAKE, CA.
Sept. 11-12-13 thurs fri sat.

we should know how to use our DO by then still looking for a waffel iron.
 If Doug and or Lee make it I should have some dodade flavor figured out.

If it helps to go look 2 spots look a little steep for novice pullers like me. I can't remember if they were 12/13 or 13/14. Tthey are doable and there is always lots of help if needed. I did not photograph them but I will be there again to picnic. If any of you go there before then take a look it may just be me.

I paid for all my days came to 85 dallars

:applause: Ron and Lucia ;)

Welcome Hansens

Postby Esteban » Mon Jun 30, 2008 5:28 pm

It'll be a pleasure to camp with you again, Tim, Margaret, Nicky and Joanne.

Glad you were persistent with the reservation phone. I read that the county is looking into updating the reservation system. It needs improvement.

We have a very nice group of people coming to the second SLO Gathering. Most people who've signed up for SLO 2.0 came to Montana de Oro last fall. We also welcome and encourage new people who'd like to camp with us at Lopez Lake.

I've added the Hansens to the roster on page 1. As of today Beaver campsites 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 20, 22, and 23, have been reserved by people coming to the gathering. :vroom:

that leaves 1 2 3 4 5 6 8 9 15 16 18 19 the ones in the teens have the most shade.
Sites not taken
16, 8, 9 ,10 have best view of the lake
1, 2, 3 , 4 are closist to the restrooms. one is behind 23 and one is just down the hill behind 3

area where it would seem most gathering will be where it is flat is behind 1, 2, 3, 18, 19, 21 or not

if you wind surf bring your board there is a big wind surfing area near by. if you ocean surf it is a short drive away 10 or so miles away. if you have a small boat this is a big lake. I have seen turkeys, deer, white egrets, blue harins, ducks, humming birds, Mag pies, quale, and fisher men too.

in San Luis Obipo is Costco still has the cheepest gas found next door to it is Homedepot, on thursday nights is farmers market downtown slo = ( San Luis Obipo )
stores near to lake are like walmart, Kmart, closest hardware is Minners Very good in Grover. Wineries are close by too.

:D :) A belated welcome to Scott and Becky. Looks like we'll first meet at IRG in Nor Cal.

Tomorrow I'll be on the road to Lee's Mendocino Gathering. Then on to Dean's International Redwoods Gathering. I'm looking forward to two wonderful teardrop gatherings in beautiful Northern California. (In a tent). Lots of nice people to meet, or see again, teardrops to admire, good food to share, and good times ahead. Will pick up ideas for our SLO Gathering. Maybe will do some recruiting too. 8)

For anyone who wonders at the SLO Gathering 2.0 next to Beaver campground where we'll be camping  the bathrooms have Flush toilets :applause: as well as :D Hot Showers. A question about the kind of bathrooms/toilets we'll have at Lopez Lake came up at IRG - which had aromatic pit toilets in the redwood grove.

At both the Mendocino Gathering and IRG I had the pleasure of meeting Scott and Becky, a warm friendly couple, who are also coming to our SLO Gathering. It'll be a pleasure to camp with you both again.

Welcome too to Terry & Allen (all the way from SLO), David & Kathleen, and Les & Jovita who signed up while I enjoyed getting away to the Mendo and IRG gatherings. Two returning couples and one new one. I think we'll be getting some more folks to come to SLO who were at IRG too.

Which brings up another thought. Brrrrrr it was nippy and damp in NorCal. Not at all like our mild Central Coast climate. According to Kai, from Mexico, one day under the redwoods at IRG it only warmed up to 52 degrees. Thankfully it was warmer under the sun out in the meadow. In the evenings many of us congregated around camp fires and keep turning around to get warm. Good planning by Dean and Joanie as they had ample firewood at IRG for us all.

At Lopez Lake in Sept. we can expect warm to hot shorts and T shirts days and comfortably warm early evenings. Along the Central Coast we tell visitors to bring clothes to dress in layers as the temperature changes during the day and usually cools on into the evening.

If you can please bring a little fire wood along for friendly evening times visiting, sitting and chatting around the :campfire: fire pits. At IRG Kai (and Steve Tripp) added to our evening cheer with his back of the teardrop blended margaritas.

:scratchthinking: Hmmmn, we'll have electricity at Lopez. Maybe I'll bring a blender. It should still be fresh strawberry season. Ought to be able to make something tasty. Maybe Blazing Blenders or a Blender Off? :icedtea: From fruit smoothies, or shakes, to margaritas? :picklejuice:

Hey everybody,

Duane and Linda King just reserved space #1 for Friday and Saturday night. We will be bringing along two friends that will be staying on our site with a tent. (Dan & Gina Jett) Looking forward to seeing everybody. I hope site one is not as far away from everybody as I think it is. I'll have to put on hiking boots just to say hello.

See 'ya then,
Duane King

Nope, Duane, just wave and shout hello!

Warm welcomes back to Duane and Linda King (with your friends Dan and Gina Jett) and to Betty and Wes.

Nope, Duane, just wave and shout hello! :) Most of us will see and hear you just fine. There's an easy short cut across a bit of open area between the upper campsites :D Or have Linda drive you in the sidecar. 8)

We'll be camping closer together to one another, visually and for overall walking distance, this year at Lopez Lake, than we did last year at Montana de Oro with it's two separated campsite loops. We'll have similar space between our individual campsites as we did last year (maybe a little more this year). A road not shown on the map of Beaver campsites, that's just a little above campsites 1 & 2, completes a paved loop around all the Beaver campsites. Easy.

Sneakers will be good enough footwear for getting around and visiting within Beaver campground.

Lopez Lake Park is very large park with several good hiking trails you might enjoy where you'd need/want hiking boots. They'd be a good idea, too, if you take an extended stroll around the campgrounds or up and down the hill to the lake front area on foot.

:ok: As of today, August 2nd  folks with 18 teardrop or tiny trailers have let us know they're :vroom: coming to the SLO athering at Lopez Lake.

People coming to our gathering have notified us that they have reservations for Beaver campsites 1, 2, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22 and 23. Beaver campsites 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 19 may still be available (we don't know what nearby campsites other campers have reserved).

If campsites get tight in Beaver campground please post a message and we'll suggest others close by. The reservations people work at Lopez Lake so they can help too.

Lobo campground also has electricity with some near by campsites a little further up the hill (4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 are closest to Beaver) (others become an increasingly long walk away).

Conejo campground sites 1-6 are the closest campsites without electricity - they cost less and have good views, too.

   With several hundred campsites at Lopez Lake, I wonder if our teardrops will be bait reeling in other Lopez Lake campers for some lookie looing?

Fixed the typo for Dan and Chris' campspot, #20.

Chris and myself are very excited, anticipating seeing all of our new friends from last year, at Lopez Lake. We have been far too busy and haven't camped are average once a month this year, we have a lot of catching up to do. Is any one up for horse shoes this time around?----Dan and Chris
