Grant, I sorry to say that we won't be at the Dam Gathering this year. :(
We will miss all the fun and good times.

Instead we be in the process of driving to South Dakota. The Air Force ended up not sending our son to training before changing bases. He has the month of May off transitioning from the Air Force base there to one in South Korea June 1. We will drive to South Dakota help him pack anything he wants to take back to CA and then we will all drive back to CA.
We will certainly enjoy our time with our son.

But we will miss not seeing everyone at the Dam Gathering. :(
Martha ;)

We will be there!!! All of us!! Luke, Jackson, baby Lilianne, Bandit (the dog) and myself. Thank goodness we got an SUV tent to have the space for everyone. Everyone help me work on Luke for an upgrade to a Raindrop or other such large family teardrop style trailer!!!!

We're planning on driving up Friday late morning/early afternoon, if anyone wishes to caravan from the Oakland (bay) area.

We're still pedaling like crazy...hopefully we'll be campable by then..if not we'll go SST. I have reseasoned my DO and purchased a waffle iron...so we're set...I think!

Visiting Shasta Dam Gathering

Postby Kicker » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:23 pm

I would like to drive to the Shasta Dam Gathering for the day to check out everyones teardrops. Would the best day to be there be Fri night or Sat night? I'm not a teardrop owner yet, but looking for ideas. Is it OK with most everyone to look around and take pictures of their trailers? Thanks for any info. Vickie

Any time you can make it and no problem.

Many miles and many tears. Times were hard but now they're changing.

Good News... I didn't get tapped for the DG Fairhaven shutdown. (4-26 thru 5-2)
That means I won't miss TDN's birthday, Gene & Eddie's Whitethorn Run and The Dam Gathering... Well sorta.
I did get tapped to work the Wheelabrator shutdown. (5-1 thru 5-24)
I'll be at the Dam Gathering... When I'm not on 12 hour shifts every day.
In this economy, I guess I should be happy about that... :?
I hope Doug uses his pizza oven and gets a late start doing it one night.
My company hasn't quite figured out how me and one other worker are going to be at our shop in Arcata on 5-16 for our four hour apprenticeship testing class.

Now that was subtle Dean.... I get the hint! I'll break out the oven, and I want a BLT pizza cooked in it. Deal? I'd like a couple of pieces of that pizza...just only got one in the past....not nearly enough for me! I'll have the bacon ready. For sure biscuits and gravy for breakfast with scrambled eggs at least on 1 morning. Cooked up the sausage on the 500 at the Glyphs when I did it. Oh that's right....you don't have a 500 yet! Just razzing ya guy....I'm sure there will be waffles also.

Kicker....Sat is probably the best time. All the trailers are there and that's the night of the pot luck...don't worry, there will be plenty of eats, campfire, presentations, raffle, and general good times aplenty.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR ALL GOOD CAMPERS TO GET PUMPED UP ABOUT THE DAM GATHERING!!!...you won't be sorry, one of the biggest gatherings on the West coast....Doug

It is a great gathering! I'm sorry we won't be there.

Doug, as you are arriving in Shasta we should be driving through the state of Wyoming on I80 heading east toward Rapid City. Not one of my favorite parts of the drive. Not exactly the timing I would have planned, but such is life. So enjoy the some pizza & waffles and the such for us.

I'm praying :worship: we don't look like this. :snow some place along the way. Today in parts of Wyoming there is more snow. I sure hope in another 12 days there is a stretch of good weather.

We plan on making it.
It looks as if Jan will be able to get off of work, It's a shame she has 5 paid vacation weeks a year & she has to fight to get them off, But she has to kiss XXX due to her employer is trying to get rid of all of the full time people or cut them down to 20 hrs a wk. so they don't have to pay there insurance & vacation pay

We are both ready to hit the road.

We will be camping at Lake Shasta the prior weekend. Then on to the Dam Gathering. Arrival time... Thurs. before noon. Hopefully someone will point out a nice spot when we arrive. Are there picnic tables there?
Why just dance, when you can Salsa!

I think all the sites have tables and fire rings Cliff. Not all have electricity however. When you first drive in, those sites have power. Doug
