Roly
You are not a cheap-skate
We have done alot of camping over the years & we have never paid $27 a night to park our TD, Not to say that we will not in the future, But we & a lot of other Teardroppers do agree with you Roly & at the present time we will not be paying $27 a night
Unless boat rental is included

Steve it is a shame that the folks at the campground could'nt work some sort of speacial group price, Because if they did I know that you would have a lot more then 12 Teardropper reservations by now, It would be a win win for Teardroppers & for the CG.

We had a real good time at your 1rst Gathering (Even with the coons)

And I know all of the folks attending this years gathering will have a great time, And if it was not such a long drive I would most likely brake down & pay the reeper.

You might have your better half check my spelling, My spell checks not working, And the time I spent in collage did'nt help my spelling either

Roly I'll be seding you PM

It's only going to get worse here in California. Lopez is a county park and the county relies on the state for help. WCalifonia is broke and broken. Those state parks that don't get closed and sold will be more costly as will everything else, including county parks. This is still about the cheapest way to travel (short of sleeping in some farmer's fields) in reasonable comfort and safety.

Lopez also has a water park inside the campground as well as access to the 1,000 acre lake plus wild turkeys and deer call the park home.

You can wait for better days folks, but with our National Debt going up like a Roman Candle, I doubt if it will ever again be as good as it is right now.

Good heavens man.... I was not even saying that????
I do not know what is normaly paid.

This is only Steve's 3rd try at this stuff. We are all new at this in our area we are a new group and just leaning the ropes.
Montana De Oro is on a first come basis no Reservation, with a new camp host that was not as willing to hold spaces compaired to first one.

We would love to have others come from out of the area, We would love to meet you and talk with you. Compair stories and trailers too. At this point the price is out of our control for this camp out.
If anyone chooses not to come so be it. Or you could stay less days.
Many people told Steve they wanted to do another gathering so he did his best, looked at other sites and people said they liked lopez so he listened and that is where it is.
So please go gental this may be the last time Steve organizes the SLO gathering he wants to travel his trailer is nearing compleation, so he can see new places and go to other gatherings and just hang out and enjoy good food, folks, and conversation.

There are a lot of great people in our T&TTT world and we just want to get along.

Ron is a very talented photographer who's taken beautiful pictures of Lopez Lake. I hope he'll post some of them here so people considering coming to the SLO Gathering can see the natural beauty of the county park we'll be camping in. Lopez Lake Park is only about 15-20 minutes inland from Arroyo Grande, CA and Highway 101. It's close to beaches, wineries, and several fun, tasty, farmer's markets for side trips or exploring.

Martha from Goleta, CA took very nice pictures of the trailers and people who camped at last years SLO Gathering in the Beaver Campground at Lopez Lake. People said they liked the campground. Many told me they'd enjoy camping there again. So we are.

The Beaver Campground at Lopez Lake Recreation Area is set up for tent or tent trailer campers. We like it much better than any of the group sites at Lopez Lake. The Beaver campsites are too small to attract big RVs for camping neighbors. It's peacefully situated on a side street loop. There's plenty of space between campsites with an overall layout that makes it easy to visit one another. This year I reserved an extra "get together" campsite, #21, for socializing on Friday and for the Saturday afternoon potluck.

Come Thursday, September 10th, just after Labor Day, we'll be ready for plenty of fun teardrop, tiny trailer, and friends camping, socializing, and good eating. With most kids back in school the park will be less crowded and quieter. The weather should be almost perfect for wearing shorts and t shirts during the day. Bring clothes to layer as the evenings tend to cool off as the ocean breezes blow inland. A good time for all who come is almost guaranteed.

San Luis Obispo has a very popular farmer's market downtown on Thursday evenings. Avila Beach has a seaside fisherman's and farmers market on Friday evenings. Both are fun to visit and abound with delicious food booths.

Somewhat off topic, I have the walls and the galley partition framework up on the teardrop trailer I'm building. It'll be a push to have it done enough to camp in it at the SLO Gathering. I sure don't want to have to camp in a SST again.

Thanks Dean, you and Joanie were wonderful hosts for IRG2.0. Camping in a tent under the redwoods at IRG shivered my timbers a little. It was good to camp with warm friendly people.

No sweat. I'm making (slow) progress in the teardrop. The walls are up and the galley bulkhead is in. There's just not enough time to get it done, or campable, by September. More and more it looks like I'll be camping in a tent at the SLO Gathering. The good news is that the camping weather at Lopez Lake in early September should be nearly ideal. Warm days with cool, but not cold, evenings.

Let's talk food

Postby 3hansens » Wed Jul 29, 2009 8:56 pm

So for food to share, we were thinking....

Friday night, if the Meat and Greet happens:
Tim, Margaret, & Nicky: campfire grilled potatoes
Joanne: dutch oven cornbread

Saturday night potluck:
Tim, Margaret, & Nicky: dutch oven baked ziti pasta
Joanne: black bean salad

Sunday morning:
We don't have a waffle iron, but we do have an aebleskiver pan....

:) Ron and Lucia kindly invited me to join them on a picnic at Lopez Lake Tuesday afternoon. After a nice meal we explored the campgrounds near Beaver. Though it was only about half full Beaver was the more popular campground in the area. RV campsites, closer to the lake and the water slides, were pretty full. Ron and Lucia reserved Beaver #18 on the way out. It was a very enjoyable afternoon.
