Easy is an under statement ... John :D
I was hoping to get some sort of rude comment from that one...

I'm going to bring a bunch of cedar leftover from the last camping trip.

'glyphs gathering

Postby nevadatear » Thu Mar 05, 2009 10:50 am

My husband and I are in the middle of our build and need some ideas, we also just happen to live in Nevada, Lovelock specifically and were looking for a place to go over Easter! Our goal of getting our "tear" done by easter isn't going to happen, but we are going camping anyway, so look forward to meeting you all if there is room! Anybody else birders?

I own a spotting scope, does that make me a birder? :)

I know some of the folks coming also have spotting scopes, but I think theirs are mounted on a long metal tube...
So if you are a raccoon I would be careful...

Hey everyone! I'm planning on coming to the Glyphs! I haven't checked on getting the time off, but can probably only get fri off, so will head out thurs night or fri and roll in sometime friday I hope.

Looking forward to seeing everybody, will bring my c'boy hat and my pointy toed howdy shouters! any dancin' in Austin?? When I spent 4 days there in 1976 it was a quiet ittle town.

Debbie and Randy, I'm a novice birder: I like folks to tell me what birds they are seeing. I'll bring my binocs.
Picked up some great nevada info at the recent flyway festival in vallejo.

See y'all next month!! :D :D
A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour!

Great! Our primary purpose in building our tear was to be able to get our more and see more birds. It is our excuse for exploring hidden place we would have never found otherwise. We are by no means experts, but know the Nevada birds pretty well.

We will probably roll in late Friday night, I have to look at our work schedules, know more as it gets closer. Look forward to meeting you all, even those with scopes on the end of long metal tubes!

Well, most of us are good at shootin' bull, but not much else. And it will be nice to have someone on hand that can identify a bird other than "thar's a yeller one!". My wife gave me a bird book for Christmas, but so far all I can identify is chicken in the grocery store.

John, don't be spooking the little critters. I'm planning on selling a few coon skin caps at the next SLO gathering. I don't want them all hiding while we are there.

I don't think the "masked bandits" are going to be a problem at the glyphs....too many coyotes around, but if they hear that Joanne will be serving up a smorgasboard, I'm sure they would make the trip! ;) Most likely it will be great Jackalope spotting... Doug

That's a nice one Dean....I've got a 4 pointer. The tend to be scroungier up in Wyoming, must be the harder winters. Doug
