Back From Mendocino Gathering

Postby The Teardrop Nanny » Sun Jul 22, 2007 9:57 pm

8) Back home now after a WONDERful time at the Pt. Cabrillo Highlands on the Mendocino Headlands of the North Coast. The weather was ideal, picture perfect for a NW coastline camp right on the ocean's edge. Great food, a fun time visiting and making new friends. And the food, well, the food was superb. What a fantastic group of individuals who shared their delicious dutch oven dishes, swapped tales around the campfire(s), and continue to astound me with their creativity and innovative ideas for their TD's and camping.

Thanks to you Lazybones (Lee) for being the organizer and securing our spot on the Highlands. Here's hoping some of the other folks who attended will join in with their comments, and pictures. We love dem pictures.

It sounds like you all had a great time! I wish I could have made it up there but I just couldn't make it. I thought about you all this weekend and hoped that the weather was good for you.

I plan to get to get my "ocean fix" at the SLO gathering in September. When I saw Dean's picture of you and the girls sitting overlooking the ocean, I was quite jealous of you. ;) Thanks for sharing your experience with us. If we can't be there in person, we can be there in spirit.

Chat later!
Joanne

We had a wonderful time at Mendo. Had a chance to get to know folks better and meet new friends. We love the potlucks and campfire gatherings. We have so many new ideas for our teardrop. Kenny took the pictures so I will download later when he gets back from work tonight.
Lee thank you. it was great and we will certainly be there next year.
Weather was great. I am now RED to match my red car and tear!

On the way home saw a caravan of classic cars. 60's and 70's impala type sedans. One classic was towing the smallest tear I have ever seen. He honked and waved and when he passed, on the back it said
"the droplet". it was used for storage only. wasnt big enough for sleeping and no galley. it was so cute.

I'm glad everyone had a good time at the coast!! :D

I want to thank all of you that spent your precious time off to make the event! :applause: :applause:
It's nice to have a beautiful setting; but It is much more enjoyable with my teardrop family.

I don't think the weather or fire side chats could have been much better.

Lee,
The fireside chats could have only been better if all of us had just as interesting stories to share as you and Troy did...
Of course that'd mean that we would have to be able to be as artisic in the way we shared them too.
Thanks Much for putting together such a nice event!!!

That was the most kicked back I've been in recent memory... Well except the butt kicking I took from Doug in the waffle competition.

I posted a few pics I was able to snap, but something must be wrong with bg's deal... They're not working now along with TDN's forum and the Pamplin Grove site. :o

Thanks a lot for all your efforts for putting this gathering together Lee...I don't think we could have had better weather, and thanks for the private tour of the "Lee Bryant Collection" on the way home, and for the chance for a lot of us to see Reds "toys"...I think you should bring that white Cushman over to me this winter and let's really do up a nice paint job on it.

Thank you Dennis for the brewery tour, and I'm hooked on that cheese, went into town and bought some for Sun. afternoon snacks!

If anyone out there that wanted to make this one, and didn't...I think it's a must do, spaces if you wanted to have privacy and areas of more "festival type camping"...Doug

We had a great time, thanks to all from Dan and Theresa.
This was a pic from the drive home… looks a little small next to the Redwood tree.

I had a great time, but somehow didn't get any rest!!

Had to pull over and take a 20 minute nap somewhere along Hwy 128 so I could continue on home. :? :?

Thanks Lee for throwing this great gathering, plenty to do (or not do, in my case) and super location.

I love the Teardrop Community and how we all jump in together and have the best time possible. Cold? here's a fire. hungry? here's some food. thirsty? here's a drink. and another. tired? no sleeping allowed. Lonely? come sit at the table. Bored? come listen to Troy and Lee. I heard all new stories this year, which is the wonderful thing about having these occasional senior moments!!

Again, thanks for all the work and organizing it took to pull this off.

I'm happy that so many people were willing to drive such distances to be there. Now, that's family!!!

By the way, i saw a teardrop heading north on hwy 128, north of calistoga. all i know is it was a 5-wide and aluminum and being pulled by a vehicle...
A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour!

Thanks Lee,
David & I had a great time. This was our second gathering & we are getting to know more of the teardrop family.
Our fellow Goletan Gordon came up with us & was his first gathering. He had a great time & I'm sure everyone will be seeing more of him.
I must say our trip home was much better than the trip up, almost 3 hours quicker. Nothing like 4pm traffic in Marin to way up past Santa Rosa. Though it was fun seeing Sue on the freeway asking us if we were going to Mendocino.
Next time we head north through that area we will leave a lot earlier.
