I am going to try to orginize the first Sin City teardroppers Gathering to be held in Oct or Dec at Calico Gost Town just out of Barstow California, This location I think may have the potential to possibly drawing some of you Ca. & AZ. folks along with us Nevadans I have been in touch with the folks at Calico, & We also stayed there on the way home from Perris Lake.

I will post some pictures of the campsite area that I am going to try to secure for this gathering if there is enough interest, there is plenty of room to expand out as long as I give the park enough notice, most of these sites have enough room to accomadate 2 to three Teardrops with tow vehicle if nessasary and not be to cramped I will most likely pre pay for 20 sites all of the sites that I am going to try to secure if there is enough interest will have power & water these sites all circle a bathroom & shower house and a small amplatheater(They are going to tear down the exsisting bathrooms & showers & they will all be new before we arrive.
The cost per TD & tow vehicle will be between $20 & $25 a day.
Depending on how many people attend I may be able to work out a better deal ? sites with utilities are usually around $25.

So if there is any interest please let me Know.
And I will try real hard not to have this gathering on the same day as another gathering.

R.V.S.P.
Thanks.

Sounds really interesting, Ken ... ...!

Don't know if I'll be able to make it down, or not, but be sure to send all the details (when they're finalized) to [email protected] so the event can be listed on the DESTINATIONS! Page, www.teardrops.net/destinations01.html

Might want to keep Joanne's New Years in Death Valley gig in mind, too, in your scheduling ... ...!

Good Luck with it, and as always ...

CHEERS!

Grant

I'd love to do a trip to Calico. It was on my list of places to visit once my trailer was done anyway. After the trip to the IRG, the 3 hour drive to Barstow will be a cake walk.

Asked my husband and he said it sounds good to him. So count us in.
Sounds interesting!

Also I quoted your first post with the information & posted it over in the TearJerkers forum as I thought it might be good for that group too.

I haven't been to the Barstow area for quite a while, so if you will let a teardroper from Oregon come, count me in.

Say Ken, you can count on us. One thing you might consider. The later in the year, the colder it can be. He, he, just got to thinking. :? Halloween weekend just might be the right time of the year to camp at a Gost Town. ;)

P.S. I'm sure we can get a bunch of So-Cal Tear Jerkers to show.

You wouldn't be trying to stir the pot with Rivernook, would you?

I'm not going to Rivernook any more. They keep raising their fees and the rest rooms & showers keep getting dirtier every year plus their attitude keeps changing for the worst. This year we were thinking about going next door to Camp James. But Calico sounds good. Last time I was there was about 20 years ago (before Disney). Looking forward to seeing what changes have been made. Besides that, not that many teardrops go to Rivernook, it's mainly vintage travel trailers. So Calico shouldn't hurt them that much.

Hi Ken,

Calico sounds great, as long as the winds aren't at hurricane force, I know this was one of my parents favorite stops. :applause:

Now late fall is a busy time of the year, from your original post,
I vote for the first week in October... :worship:

Looking forward to seeing the finalized info.

My tear (just completed as far as being road ready), will see mainly our clubs Dark-Skysite in Landers, on out the 247 from Barstow.

Gage - we are getting old because before Disney was more than 20 years ago. I lived just up the road around 1954 when I was six. We visited Calico often and have old film of our visits. Much different today! I think the desert school I went to was Yermo(sp)?
