I have been looking for the pix of the pie you cooked at the DG.
Did you post it on Camp Cook? If not, they need to see it.

How much was prepared ahead of time and how much did you do at the site?
I am tempted to do another one at Pismo this weekend and I leave on Wed. I need to make my plans soon and get organized if I want pie. Any tips would be appreciated. I can use premade stuff but have not made up my mind yet. The one I did was down and dirty with Pillsbury crusts. Yours looked a lot better.

Dennis...I got a recipe for the filling on the internet and cooked up a load of it, like 5 pies worth, beats the price of the pre canned stuff. It got a bit overcooked...too much water in it, cut back on the water next time. I put in some walnuts and cheated and did the roll out/pre made pie crusts. Once there, it was dump the filling and bake. I cut it a bit early, still way hot. Not my best efforts, but given the weather conditions, was acceptable. I didn't have any left. I got carried away visiting and the crust got a bit overdone. Oh well, it's camping pie anyway. Doug
