NorCal question: Mendocino Woodlands SP route?

My wife will be pulling our small standee from Oregon to Mendocino Woodlands SP. We're familiar with some of the roads in that area from motorcycle trips, and of course goods motorcycle roads tend to be poor trailering roads.

So far I've ruled out the Leggett - Fort Bragg road, we're considering Highway 20 from I-5. Can anyone recommend a route from Oregon to MWSP?

Coming from Portland, I think I'd take 199 from Grants Pass to Crescent City and come down 101 to Willits then head west on 20 out of Willits to the park. Coming down the coast is going to be way cooler than going down I5 through the valley.
